Temple conflict simmers

BANGKOK, 28 June 2012: Thailand has submitted additional written explanations to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to counter Cambodia’s petition requesting the court to interpret its 1962 Preah Vihear temple verdict.

Thailand’s Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs general director, Rachanant Thananant, said the Thai Ambassador to the Hague, Virachai Plasia, submitted the explanations to the ICJ 21 June.

“This was the second round of written explanations as required by the world court,” he said.

In April 2011, Cambodia asked the ICJ to clarify and interpret its 1962 ruling on Preah Vihear.

The court ruled in 1962 that the ancient Hindu temple belonged to Cambodia, but did not define the boundaries of the area surrounding the structure, which has led to sporadic clashes between the two armies.

Thailand’s latest 380-page explanation was published in two books with supporting documents and maps.

In its summary, Thailand counter claimed that Cambodia did not have the legal grounds to ask the court to interpret the earlier decision, and was in effect making an appeal over court’s decision. In the past, it claimed the court rejected attempts to appeal the 1962 ruling.

“The court is expected to decide whether it will deliberate the case or not by 2013,” Mr Rachnant explained.

The court last July ordered both Thailand and Cambodia to immediately withdraw their military personnel from the so-called demilitarised zone and urged both countries to work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to reach an agreement allowing regional bloc’s observers to enter the disputed zone.

The two countries were also ordered to revive their stalled talks to resolve the conflict. Both must report development to the court until a decision on Cambodia’s main request for interpretation of the 1962 order is finalised.

The delays in settling the issue are frowned on by tourism officials in both countries who see the temple as a major revenue earning attractions. Tour operators generally agree that as long as the two countries squabble over the territory the less they will benefit. They claim that Thailand’s Northeast and the poor provinces in Cambodia adjacent to the temple need tourism to build economic growth as there is a lack of attractions to draw tourists.

The temple was possibly the most popular stop on combination tours that took in visits to the heritage sites of Northeast Thailand and ended at Siem Reap with a visit to Angkor Wat.

=Well...The Siem thugs kept repeating the same bullshit that the court did not define the boundaries of the area surrounding the structure. If there is no clear boundary then the French did conquer over Thailand and Cambodia?

When the French conquer over Cambodia the French did produce a map of Cambodia because the French didn't want to conquer Thailand which was part of the British empire and base on that map the court awarded the temple to Cambodia! What more to argue? If the Siem thugs want to argue and they should be arguing with the French for producing those map!

It doesn't matter which way the Siem thugs want to twist and turn the problem of the temple and the fact still remain that the whole Thailand was once part of Cambodia! And Cambodian can claim the whole Thailand as Cambodia!

how the siem try to justify their stealing from cambodia is beyond anyone's comprehension, really. preah vihear was built by the khmer empire, not by siem mercenary soldiers, you know. plus, preah vihear was in khmer art style, not siem's copycat, fake style, ok. so, siem thugs protesters must be cuckoo or on drug or something because they seem not to be able to respect and honor the law, the treaties, etc. i hope the world will see to it that this siem stealing of khmer lands, territories, arts, etc must stop once and for all. like it or not, siem must live under the rule of law just like everyone else, you know.

you know, if it's up to siem thugs, they all wanted to keep cambodia primitive and undeveloped so they can continue to steal from cambodia. i told you, siem are evil people that change their color to please the eyes of the world who happened to know very little about the true siem color of thuggish society in that country, really. by the way, did you all know that their country siem or thailand was the land of the khmer empire. siem stole from cambodia all those former khmer lands, territories, islands, waters, etc; all of that once belonged to cambodia, the khmer empire of angkor civilization, you know. learn history, the world will know better about the past, really.

during the khmer empire angkor civilization period, preah vihear was actually the center of the khmer vast empire, geographically speaking, you know. it took a great civilization like the khmer's to build such vast array stretch of huge stone temples and gave so much influences to the entire khmer empire that we know gave way to the later civilization of siem and laos. it was all owed to the vast khmer empire angkor civilization of the khmer race then. how can anyone ignore that fact in history? more power to cambodia.

given the great khmer empire angkor civilization historical facts, the whole country of present-day thailand and laos should honor the great khmer civilization and influences, that's the least these countries can do to honor and give thanks to the khmer angkor civilization for give birth to these two ungrateful countries, really. more power to cambodia.

Jayavarman 7 was a great emporer ( 1181 - 1219 ) in a big kingdom called MOHANOKOR . During his reign , China was invaded by Mongolia . Siam tribes were chased out of Yunan and took refuge into Mohanolor, settling in a province
named SOKHOTEY which was governed by KLONH LOMPONG . With their
strong forces , Siam wanted to conquer SOKHOTEY . With his shrew diplomacy ,
Jayavarman 7 who was busy controlling CHAMPA, did not want to make war with
Siam . Instead, he married his daughter, SEKHARAK DEVI to a Siam leader' son
named PHAW KHON PHA MOEUNG . Jayavarman 7 gave his son inlaw a Royal
title and Royal sword and made him to swar that he must always faithful , to protect
and serve MOHANOKOR . After Jayavarman death , the son in law transferred the
Royal title and sword to his friend who was also his younger brother in law named
PHAW KHON BANG KLANG HARV . Bang Klang Harv who did not owe allegiance
conquered SOKHOTEY ... MOHANOKOR was split to two part : one in the west
called SIAM and the one in the. West called KAMPUCHEA . The east part or KAMPUCHEA was led by many crazies and incompetences who took part of kingdom to swap with Vietnam' pussy , power protection and the kingdom had became smaller and smaller whereas Vietnam and Thailand became bigger and bigger . Thailand and Vietnam were not bad for their respective nations , it was Khmer leaders 'stupidity ! This remind me to the question asked : Battambang was
returned from Siam to Khmer and Surin is still under Siam , so , which farmers
between the two provinces were suffered the most ? A nationalist must love the
people who live in , not just the territory , like Pol Pot .

siem kept saying that the icj did not rule on the surrounding accessway to cambodia's preah vihear temple, i'm sure the court used some official map for their conclusive ruling, you know. siem thugs have no chance at all, you know. give it up, siem thugs, dangrak mountain and preah vihear temple and its surrounding accessway will always belongs to cambodia, not your siem thugs, ok! so stop dreaming already, ok! your siem ancestors stole from cambodia and now must return all khmer lands and territories back to cambodia, it's birthday, ok! no ifs or buts about that, ok! and stop crying, nobody want to hear siem crying, ok!

Siem logic is like this: If Cambodians are so tough why do they cede the border areas to Vietnam so so recently. In fact the Cambodians even cede the birth places of their top members of their top leadership to Vietnamese. So the Siem will continue to hang on to the Cambodian border areas as well because they know that Hun Sh*t can never ever do anything to losen up the Thai grips on the Cambodian border territory. It will go on until eternity.

whatever, we can see siem evil, true color already. they steal, and you know about people who steal, they are criminals, so siem is criminal if they steal from cambodia, you know.
