US intends to diversify trade relations with Cambodia

The US is making moves to diversify and strengthen its trade relationship with Cambodia. The US’s business relationship with the Southeast Asian country is presently limited to the imports of readymade garments from Cambodia.

At the US-Asean business forum in Siem Reap, Cambodia, a trade delegation from the US, along with the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, focused on the expansion of the country’s trade relationship with Cambodia.

At present, Garments have a substantial share in Cambodia’s exports to the US. According to the figures with the US Department of Commerce, apparels constituted 95.1 percent of all Cambodian exports to the US in the first five months of 2012, a marginal decline from the 95.4 percent share during the corresponding months of 2011.


In 2010, garments formed 96.1 percent of all Cambodian exports to the US.

Many American apparel brands indirectly operate in Cambodia and several Cambodia-based factories produce apparels at rock-bottom prices for the US brands.

Last year, the US-Cambodia trade balance was US$ 2.5 billion in favor of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Popular American brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein imported a large volume of readymade garments from Cambodia.

america ought to invest in the postal system, the infrastructure system of cambodia, the public transportation system of cambodia like lightrail, railway transportation, airport expansion, construction sectors, manufacturing sectors, tourism navigation system, public services system, electricity, education in higher learning institutions, etc, etc because these are long-term investments will leave a long, lasting american legacy so cambodia and khmer can be proud and remember america direct contribution to the development and growth of cambodia in many ways, i think. anyway, god bless cambodia always.

ps: when invest in cambodia it is wise not to get involve in the local politics at all, this way your investment is not a threaten, instead it's a contribution to the economy and growth and development and national reconstruction of my country cambodia, really. and yes, diversify your investments in my country cambodia is always a smart, wise and better approach, really. thank you for your interest and partnering with cambodia for both america interest and cambodia interest as well. god bless both america and cambodia always.

note please is rich in rubber plantations, so maybe invest in tires makings and other automobile parts productions, etc. when america is willing to invest in cambodia, america will reap the benefits as well in the long-term strategy, really. yes, there are more to cambodia than you and i can think of, you know.

america investments in the banking or financial sector is good too as there are still many opportunities in cambodia, really. and also, so far, where are the big name america hotel chains? they should be coming to invest in cambodia in the real estate sector already, you know. i can think of the hilton, the marriots, the hyatt, these are some of the bigger corporation in america hotel business, you know. they should come invest more in my country cambodia, really.

another sector is in the food production in cambodia as well. i love beef jerky, fish jerky, and anything made into dry food like that. that's a good investment in that sector as well, really. and how about beverages manufacturing in cambodia! that's another good areas to go into as well, really, i mean, not just beers or other soft drinks...
