The king father would have been pleased to see his children have unity, for his children to have mutual compassion, for his children to mutually forgive each other,” she said. “All of these are in the national interest, and all of these are for the Cambodians.”
PHNOM PENH - Sam Rainsy, the exiled leader of Cambodia’s opposition, has written the prime minister seeking permission to return to the country to mourn the passing of the former king, “and see his face for the last time.”

Sam Rainsy is facing at least 10 years imprisonment if he returns to Cambodia, on charges related to destroying border markers near Vietnam in 2009.

He has claimed the charges against him are political and that a political solution will be possible for his return ahead of 2013 elections. Prime Minister Hun Sen has said otherwise.

In his Oct. 17 letter to Hun Sen, Sam Rainsy said he should be allowed to return in the spirit of reconciliation and national unity in the wake of Sihanouk’s passing.

“He can come as he wants,” government spokesman Khieu Kanharith told VOA Khmer Thursday. “But we cannot give any orders to the court.”

Political analyst Chea Vannath told VOA Khmer that the administration should consider amnesty for convicted people in exile, such as Sam Rainsy.

“The king father would have been pleased to see his children have unity, for his children to have mutual compassion, for his children to mutually forgive each other,” she said. “All of these are in the national interest, and all of these are for the Cambodians.”

Mr. Sam Rainsy,

Stay where you at. Don't let the ghost of Sihanouk kill you through Ah Tmil Hun Shit.

By now, you should know the animal Hun Shit.

Stop acting stupid if you want to save Cambodia. There are so many ways that Hun Shit can kill you while you were in prison such as poisoning, staging a fight from other inmates and kill you, etc...

You go in if and only if you get assurance from the superpowers and the UN.

All islands near srok khmer were once belonged to khmer nation but because of the agreement (continue to help Hun sen to stay in power) made between hun and vietminh, that is why hun had to give kosh trol to Vietminh. It is like history repeats itself like, during king Jayvarman (IIV, or something), he married to a viet woman and later gave khmer krom to vietnam and later, the French made it official in the world map. When, in fact it has always been khmers'. Today, khmer krom people are still fighting for their identity/rights of being khmers' not viets'. Now, hun sen is doing the same thing, he is being married to a viet woman, as well as to the vietminh's leaders and is giving away kosh trol. 'If we look into the past, we will see the future' and if we don't learn from the past, history will repeat itself', simple as that.

Sam Rainsy, for the last three years you have insulted PM Hun Sen as a traitor and whatever you like to say but now when you have no way where to go, you use the former king's death as your pretext to return back to Cambodia. It is not easy as you think. If you want to come back, you have to eat all your words that have insulted the government and bend your knee and bow your head to the ground begging for forgiveness and let see what will PM decide?

9:52am

stop devaluing our own people because this is what the VC always wanted us to do, putting into words as 'Khmers kill khmers' or 'killing two birds with one stone'. Please stop it and let say both CPP and HNRP are our brothers and sisters and there is nothing they (VC) can do about, how about that? but if you are VC fk off now. Get before I curse you, your family and your people and send you all back to hell.
