Please find below a rumor circulating in the Facebook social media website. The origin of the rumor appears to be coming from Sourn Serey Ratha and it alleges that, in the evening of 14 October, 2012, former King Sihanouk was apparently in great shape and he was talking on the phone with Hun Xen regarding the responsibility over the loss of Koh Tral Island (named as Phu Quoc by the Viet). During the conversation, Sihanouk vehemently denied any responsibility in the loss of Koh Tral, while Hun Xen claimed that the loss of the island was due to the former king. In the heated discussion, Sihanouk apparently suffered from heart attack and had to be taken to the hospital.
Although, the report claimed to obtain this information from source in the royal palace, readers should be cautious about such claim and report as it cannot be verified.

Serey Ratha is good at making you believe whatever he wants you to believe.
He tells you what you want to hear.
Based on my assessment and personal opinion, Serey Ratha is an extremist.
What I cannot tell is whether he is an extremist by design -that is, he is being propped up to stir dissension and disunity among Khmer on purpose, or whether being an extremist is just his birth nature due to his strong and overwhelming conviction and love for Cambodia.
Honestly, I don't know if one of those two cases is even better than the other.
We see an extremist who has overwhelming conviction in his country in many past incarnations before, including our very own Pol Pot and cliques.
We also see the other version, one who is by designed propped up to appear "most patriotic", i.e CPP politicians, and their propaganda machines such as CTN news anchors for example, one (no need to mention name) who claims no one could doubt his love for Khmer because he is as Khmer if not even more Khmer than anyone else because we can see that his skin is "dark".
Regarding Serey Ratha's ambition, ut seems more focused on discrediting Sihanouk and his legacy then about saving Cambodia.
Does hating on Sihanouk or discrediting him make Serey Ratha a bad person or a puppet? Not necessarily, there are lots of people who holds the same idea as Ratha, but they are not "puppet" or "bad" Khmer.
But his character seems irreconcilable with anybody but himself. He is an extremely proud individual.
When I listen to him, there is one person that reminds me most - Hun Sen.
I want a democratic Cambodia - the same goal as Ratha, or at least what he claims. But forgive me to speak my mind, I am not looking for another strong man whose hubris reaches from the depth of hell to the horizons of the Brahma world - now I'm talking about Hun Sen, of course. Yes, Hun Sen and his Sdach Korn savior mentality. His saving of the Khmer nation from the stone ages of where men could not be distinguish from "monkey" to modern "Kampucheans".
The problem with Ratha is that no one can stand up to his expectations and standard but himself.
Do Koh Tral island and other islands belong to Khmer or Viet according to King Norodom Sihanouk and his regime after Cambodia gain indepandant from France?
Can any professional people out there including KI media, VOA, RFA confirm with evidences strongly that Koh Tral island and other islands were belong to Khmer during Sihanouk's regime reconized by UN?
It is very important to clearification any doubt to young khmer generation? Can you professional people out there help young khmer generation to clear out the doubt about Koh Tral island and other islands? Please do it for your country and nation and the khmer generation to know the facts and the truth about khmer history that it banned from teaching at Cambodia school!
All islands near srok khmer were once belonged to khmer nation but because of the agreement (continue to help Hun sen to stay in power) made between hun and vietminh, that is why hun had to give kosh trol to Vietminh. It is like history repeats itself like, during king Jayvarman (IIV, or something), he married to a viet woman and later gave khmer krom to vietnam and later, the French made it official in the world map. When, in fact it has always been khmers'. Today, khmer krom people are still fighting for their identity/rights of being khmers' not viets'. Now, hun sen is doing the same thing, he is being married to a viet woman, as well as to the vietminh's leaders and is giving away kosh trol. 'If we look into the past, we will see the future' and if we don't learn from the past, history will repeat itself', simple as that.

You are right, it is kind of confusing like, he sounds compatriot but I heard that he is trying to lure and also find out who is pro-cpp or pro sr and only to pass information onto cpp to kill whoever pro sr. This is another tactic they had used during the KR regime. Anyway, there were other times he spoke badly about the cpp govt, so I really don't know who is he? or whom is he working for? or which side is he in? Nevertheless, I had come across seeing people attacking each of nothing. Some, i considered them as coward because they only to attack with their own people but not with outsiders who do more harm than good.

It seems like everyone betrayed somdach ta but it was somdach ta did all the bad things before, it is called 'karma'. because when he was younger, he ordered educated people to be killed because of fear of losing his seat and as he grow older, well ' what goes around, comes around' and it surely did.
It would be nice if you have proof such as phone communication, voice, anything like that. This rumor will not help Serey Ratha in trying to proof that Hun Sen is a crook or Sihanouk is a REAL TRAITOR.
