Khmer New Year message from US Secretary of State John Kerry

Khmer New Year

Press Statement
John Kerry
Secretary of State
Washington, DC

April 11, 2013

On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I would like to send my best wishes to the Cambodian people on the occasion of Khmer New Year.

This is an opportunity to honor Cambodia's culture and plans for a brighter future. Cambodia has undergone tremendous progress and growth in the past two decades, and the United States hopes to be a partner in Cambodia’s continued development

This year, as Cambodia plans for the National Assembly Elections in July, we support efforts to ensure a free and fair electoral process that addresses the democratic aspirations of the Cambodian people. We also look forward to recognizing and celebrating Cambodia’s 60 years of independence in November.

I offer my heartfelt wishes for a peaceful and prosperous new year.

John Kerry, a Communist Vietnam's sympathizer. Jane Fonda is too. Noted in Major Mark A. Smith's diary.
