Cambodian Deputy PM rejects land-grab accusations against Vietnam investors

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly (R) talks with Vietnamese ambassador Ngo Anh Dung at the office of the Royal Government of Cambodia on June 7.

Thanh Nien News, June 8, 2013

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly has rejected accusations that two Vietnamese companies have occupied residential land and caused severe environmental destruction in establishing rubber plantations in Cambodia.

“Vietnamese companies investing in Cambodia, including in rubber plantations, have contributed significantly to Cambodia’s economic development,” the Vietnam News Agency quoted the Cambodian deputy prime minister as saying.

Chhay Ly said he rejected information released by the NGO Global Witness and the Radio Free Asia (RFA) accusing companies under the Vietnam Rubber Group and Hoang Anh Gia Lai that they have wreaked considerable environmental damage and taken over land from the locals.

He said the rubber companies, including those from Vietnam, have strictly followed Cambodian laws, respected traditional customs of the locals and protected the environment when carrying out their projects.

He said this when receiving Vietnamese ambassador Ngo Anh Dung  on June 7.

Senior leaders of Kampong Thom and Krati provinces, where the Vietnamese companies have invested in rubber plantations, also attended the meeting.

Chhay Ly said the Vietnamese companies have not only created jobs for the locals and generated revenue for the Cambodian government, they have also carried out several charity activities like providing free medical examinations and building schools, medical stations and other welfare facilities in Cambodia.

He criticized Globle Witness for using pictures from the Khmer Rouge regime when accusing Vietnamese companies of destroying the forests and using force to stop local farmers from cultivating their land.

He said Cambodia has a fair policy for foreign investment that does not favor Vietnam.

The wrongful accusations have had negative impacts on Cambodia’s political scene, especially ahead of the parliamentary elections in July, as well as the bilateral relationship of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, he said.

To find out the truth, you need to go and talk to people who are living in the land and who suffering from losing their land, etc ok? what this MP (CPP) does is to cover up their crimes, as being committed against their own people for their own benefit. Why talk and denial, what for? too much evil tactics and tricks going on front of the camera, really.

It is time for change because enough is enough, we don't need outsiders' influences no more. Why? well, because of them, that is why srok Khmer is the way it is today. So, no more talk and no more making business with them, just piss them all off.

We Khmer had enough of their evil tricks, tactics and lies. Now,just leave us alone and let us rule our nation with our way of life, with the rule of law, where everyone is being protected under the law, and where no one should be above the law. So, to all evil outsiders, just take your blood money and piss off.

I hope you all will live well of it. I hope every mouthful will make you sick to the bones. You are not our friend any more, just leave us and our Khmer krom alone, for four hundred years you lied, cheated and killed us Khmers and it is time to say, enough is enough, that is all.

So, don't pretend to find out or cover up your crimes being committed to us no more, because everyone in this world already knows about, who you really are, and so, how do you feel being caught the 'criminals' of all times? of course worst than animals, because even animals know right from wrong e.g even dog knows its own territory and who its owner is and you crooked people? indescribable really.

It is kind of sad for you crooked people really, because 'justice will be done on earth and in heaven', from here only time will tell. so good luck to your nation.

I wonder what economic development Vietnam's companies contribute to Cambodia's economy, by looking into the following:
1/ The fact that every time a Vietnamese company invested in Cambodia. They evicted Cambodian citizen from their land and forced them out....?
2/ Every time and this is not new a vietnamese company given land concessions they destroyed the environments and sell Cambodian Hardwood for profit before they spend a dollar on the Cambodian land the soil and eco-systems has been completely lost which took thousands of years destroyed in less than 12 months, No trees just the bare soil and the burn land ready for erosion.
3/ When did plan the rubber plantation they employed the illegal Vietnameses in Cambodian , so the $ goes back to Vietnam. Not to Cambodia
4/ Which the special contractual concession the Vietnameses company allow to operate with almost next to zero tax....

So there is NO economic contribution that any Vietnamese companies in investing in Cambodia.
However it clear that Vietnamese companies investment resulted in the longterm damage contributions that scared Cambodia for many generations to fixed the problems.
All is because on 1 person decision that is Ah Khvar Hun Sen.
I hope all Cambodian united to get rid of this BAD LUCK HUN'S FAMILIES FROM CAMBODIA to save ourself and the future of our children.

AH Yim Chhay Ly is fucken liar! He took the fucken order from AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave and in turn AH HUN SEN took the fucken order from the Vietcong government!

It is embarrassing to know that the Vietcong called their business in Cambodia as investment because their businesses involved in total destruction of Cambodian forest and make more Cambodian people homeless? Is this what the Vietcong government called investment? This is nothing short of exploitation!

That is what Ah Hun Sen Vietcong slave would like you to believe and the fact is Ah Hun Vietcong slave make an exception to the rule of law in Cambodia in favor of the Vietcong business. It is unspeakable to see the Vietcong military own telecom business in Cambodia and it is unspeakable that Ah Hun Sen gave more land to the Vietcong rubber plantation which is illegal under Cambodian law. The lists go on and on...Why Ah Hun Sen Vietcong slave thinks that he is so special to break Cambodian law to reward the Vietcong. Is this his personal interest or national interest.? The law is the law which make everybody equal. The Vietcong doesn't to do arm twisting or ask for favor in doing business in Cambodia because Cambodian people doesn't owe the Vietcong anything.

about the forest in cambodia, cambodia want to preserve some forest in our country, but don't dream of leaving the whole cambodia in the forest like this, ok. it's not going to happen. forest are designated for protection, but not the whole of cambodia. that's why we have law to protection and preserve khmer forest, ok!

To 2:18 am

Who said that the whole Cambodia needs to be covered by forest? This is about protecting what is left of Cambodian forest, the ecosystem, and the people. After 30 years of Ah HunSen rule Cambodia has 3% forest? How the fuck did that happen? I thought the Cambodian forest is protected under Cambodian law?

"otherwise, this racist thing is so outdated and unfair, i think.."

Nothing is fair for Cambodia re. Vietcong intention. Do Vietcong let Cambodia have peace and independence since they took Kampuchea Krom? I don't think so.

Cambodia love to live in peace but the Vietcong alway take advantage of. So Cambodian don't trust Vietcong anymore, only traitor CPP. I know you trust them because you're one of them too.

Do Cambodia want to invade Vietnam like communist Vietcong barbarian did, I don't think so. Only Vietcong love to do it on the weak countries like Cambodia and Lao.

Re. racist, communist Vietcong barbarian is the most racist, why? Monks in Kampuchea Krom get oppressed by the Vietcong govt., that's RACIAL! So if you don't know shit, don't say shit, LOOSER!
