The only reason why Vessantara thinks he can give away his own children to Ta ChouChouk is because he sees himself the absolute MASTER of their lives. Now what makes Vessantara any better than a child trafficker???? Self-detachment MY FOOT!!! It is a tale of a megalomaniac's selfishness and self-centeredness.
Pardon my being direct, but I find it strange that a well educated person on this blog can swallow and glorify this tale of human rights abuse by posting this atrocious tale of man's inhumanity against man. The sooner our khmer people learn to respect each other's rights, including those of our children, the better.. and that can only come about if we kick out religious tales like Vessantara's. No offence intended.

This smote reminds me of the story about the final life of Lord Buddha, when these two characters become the most evil enemies of Lord Buddha and both end up in hell till today.
