Peaceful education protest turns to riot in Brazil

Photos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where teachers and supporters clashed with police during a demonstration calling for better public education and services on Monday, October 7, 2013. While the majority of protesters were peaceful, a small group fired incendiary devices and the police eventually dispersed the crowd with tear gas. The last few weeks have seen a city-wide strike by union education workers.
