Prince Sisowath Thomico said, in an interview with The Mekong Times newspaper, that he believes that, currently, no political party in Cambodia could wrestle power away from the CPP. The prince said that the current situation shows that the CPP will win the election, and the other parties are fighting each other to become the CPP partner. He added that the CPP is becoming stronger while other parties are getting weaker, these latter parties include the SRP, the NRP and the HRP. Therefore, based on past experience with Cambodian political parties, “I do not believe that small political parties which exist currently can win over the CPP,” Thomico said. In response to the question as to what the small political parties should do to beat the CPP, the prince said that, in his opinion, there is only one mean to achieve this victory: uniting all these (small) parties based on plural-democracy principle.
