A man who impersonated a 2-star general in Hun Xen’s bodyguard unit was arrested by the police last Saturday. The criminal police of the Ministry of Interior indicated that Meng Sarith (aka Moeun) was the 42-year-old man arrested. When he was first arrested, the impostor was accused on swindling an amount of $4,000, however, it was later found that he was also involved in other two illegal charges: using an illegal firearm, and falsifying public document. The police confiscated two firearms: an AK-47 rifle and a K-59 handgun, as well as the false identity showing that he belongs to Hun Xen’s bodyguard unit with the rank of 2-star general and government advisor. On 16 August, the Phnom Penh municipal court issued an order to send the man to jail for money swindling, falsifying public document and possession of illegal firearms.
