Cambodian PM: powerful China offers more opportunities to world co-op

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday said that a powerful China offers more opportunities to the region and international cooperation.

The premier made the remarks during his meeting with China's new ambassador to Cambodia Zhang Jinfeng.

During her official calls to Hun Sen, Zhang conveyed China's top leaders greetings and good wishes to Hun Sen, including Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and Deputy Premier Wu Yi.

Ambassador Zhang thanked Hun Sen for his New Year congratulations to all Chinese-Cambodian and overseas Chinese in the country.

Hun Sen expressed his congratulations for the great achievements made by the Chinese government and people in the past year, adding that a strong China will not only benefit the Chinese people, but also offer more opportunities for regional and international cooperation, as well as contribute to the peace and development.

He appreciated the Chinese Communist Party's and the Chinese government's selfless assistance and supports for Cambodia's construction and economic development.

The premier also spoke highly of the rapid growth of cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries, and reaffirmed Cambodia's adherence to the "one China" policy and support for China's great cause of peaceful reunification.

Ambassador Zhang thanked Hun Sen for his contribution to the consolidation and development of Sino-Cambodian ties of friendship and cooperation. Zhang said that China will follow the policy of forging a neighborhood of friendship, stability and prosperity.

Hun Sen reiterated that the royal government and the leaders will continue to develop the traditional friendship initiated by former king Norodom Sihanouk and commit itself to deepening the mutually beneficial cooperation between Cambodia and China. Enditem
