CPP and FUNCINPEC Working Groups Meet

Cambodian People's party (CPP) and royalist FUNCINPEC party's working groups begin their first meeting Tuesday afternoon about their past conflict on FUNCINPEC's reforms, after the National Assembly amended the constitutional article on 2/3 votes to adopt the 50% plus one vote instead to form a new government, allege both parties' officials.

Both parties' working groups capacity include 7 representatives from each party will meet in a hotel in Phnom Penh to discuss about three issues:
  • show FUNCINPEC's new capacity,
  • explanation about the reasons to have reforms in FUNCINPEC party, and
  • discussions about issues facing both parties in the partnership alliance government.
Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith says the meeting's goal is to specify about the government's principles for FUNCINPEC party.

These principles were discussed at the meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Deputy PM Sar Kheng with FUNCINPEC's general secretary Nhek Bun Chhay on FUNCINPEC's reforms.

Some FUNCINPEC officials, provincial governors, and the Ministry of Interior high ranking police officials, and recently about 40 deputy provincial governors will be removed from their positions and be sent to attend the Royal Administrative School.
