Did you know that the world's biggest Hindu temple is in Cambodia?

WORLD'S BIGGEST HINDU TEMPLE IS IN CAMBODIA

Star of Mysore (India)

India abounds in countless number of temples and, therefore, one would guess that the biggest temple of the world would be one of them. No, the guess is not right, though!

The largest temple of the world, raised during the reign of Suryavarman-II in 12th century, is, in fact, located in Angkor, a major archaeological site of Cambodia.

It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is also one of the two temples intact in Angkor, Cambodia. The other is a Buddhist Temple. The largest temple of Lord Vishnu in Angkor is built according to Khmer architecture, original to Cambodia.

Not only it is magnificent, but is also a symbol of pride for the country of its origin.

Suryavarman-II, who reigned from 1113 to 1150, entertained the deep desire to have the temple constructed in his capital only. Accordingly, the structure was designed and constructed during his lifetime.

The temple was being used as a Buddhist Centre in 14th Century and was neglected from the 16th century. Currently, a German organisation is making efforts in renovating the temple's structure.

who cares, India has only done so because they feel jelious. There is no other reason in this day to build such a large complex. Face it, Angkor Wat has many many years on any new Temple India thinks they need to build, it's erralevant and Angkor Wat will always hold this crown.

Truly, Angkor Wat is the Largest Hindu Temple in the World built in 11 & 12th Century AD. It has marvelous architecture and complete depiction of story of Ramayana & Mahabharata, the two great Hindu Epics. In size, it is 5.4 times bigger than Delhi's most modern Akshardham Temple which was constructed just 5 years back at the cost of nearly USD 50 Million.

I have visited Akshardham twice and also Angkor Watt and Angkor Thom. The other Great Temple Complexes are the Besakih Temple of Bali, Prambanan Shiva Temples of Yogyakarta and Ayutthaya near Bangkok.

The great Buddhist Temples Complexes are the Borobudur of Yogyakarta and Bagan of Thailand apart from Buddhist Temples of Bangkok city.

The great Temple Cities are Pushkar in Rajassthan and Vrindavan of Mathura. Delhi’s Chhatarpur Temple Complex also good to see.

The Tirupathi Temple in South India enjoys the second largest and the Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu, the third largest donation collection Centres among worshipping places in the World.

Of course, Vatican has the largest collection in the world backed by many Govts.

Whether Delhi or Bali or Yogyakarta or Siem Reap or Bagan we must worship the God, its every Creation, Lives and Universe.
