The Cambodian Red Cross Society (CRCS) under the leadership of Bunrany Hun Sen (photo above), wife of prime minister Hun Sen, has decided to send $5,000 to help Indonesian earthquake victims, if only it could extend a helping hand to provide for destitute Cambodians as well. Based on past experience, Cambodian victims must send a letter to the CRCS to be evaluated first before help can be provided. Usually, the CRCS help almost always arrive too late, if at all.

Cambodia Tuesday joins the international community in donating money to its ASEAN partner, Indonesia, even though it is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Last week Indonesia was struck by a strong earthquake that so far killed more five thousand people and has wounded thousands of others. The quake left tens of thousands of people homeless.
The Cambodian Red Cross Society (CRCS) on Monday wrote a letter of condolences to Indonesia, and donated $5,000, according to Cambodian Red Cross Society director in charge of relations Ms. Men Neary Sopheak.
Ms. Men says Cambodia works in joint effort because in a disaster the international community appeals for help, and Cambodia is also a member of the international community.
Opposition party high ranking official and former Minister of Women's and Veteran's Affairs Mu Sochua welcomes Cambodia's contribution but also appeals to the CRCS to give to poor Cambodians as well, especially to women and children.
