"Give land to the poor": Another empty pledge made by Hun Sen

Hun Sen made yet another empty pledge of giving land to the poor. In spite of his repeated pledges, the poor remain poorer whereas Hun Sen cronies and government officials are getting richer and richer by grabbing lands from the poor. PM Again Pledges To Give Land to the Poor

By Pin Sisovann and Whitney Kvasager
THE CAMBODIA DAILY

Prime Minister Hun Sen once again pledged to find land for the landless on Monday, saying he would give 50,000 disenfranchised farmers a total of 200,000 hectares to help calm what he called the "hot, large battlefield" of land disputes.

Hun Sen spelled out his strategy during a speech at the inauguration of the new premises of the Ministry of National Assembly Senate Relations and Inspections—whose construction was also the focus of a dispute last year after it was built on land that had been a public park.

"We need to take the land from the rich, powerful officials to give to the real, poor, landless farmers as social land concessions," the prime minister said.

This is not the first time Hun Sen has made such a pledge.

Officials said in October 2004 that hundreds of villagers had claimed the land of wealthier residents in Sihanoukville, apparently inspired by a speech by Hun Sen that month in which he admonished powerful Cambodians for taking land from the poor and vowed to distribute land to the landless.

Police subsequently arrested more than 30 villagers who moved onto disputed land, and who claimed they were inspired to do so by the prime minister's speech.

While Hun Sen on Monday did not mention the Ministry of Finance's suspension of three projects supported by the World Bank after the Bank discovered irregularities in contracts and misuse of funds in seven major projects, he did take issue with corruption in general.

He pledged to demote, fire or prosecute officials found to be involved in corruption, saying the body politic needed to be protected.

"We cannot let a wound become a cancer which kills a person," he said.

He cited the government's investigation into a ship smuggling oil into the Phnom Penh port as an example of a successful move against "international standard corruption," which he said was uncovered by "government secret agents."

Hun Sen added that corruption occurs in all countries.

The government has been pressed for years by donors to introduce a long-awaited anti-corruption law, which was scheduled for ratification by the Assembly last year.

The pledge "Give land to the poor" for 2008 election is the Hun Hen’s tricks to be voted as prime minister to keep power in order to have more time to keep immigration of “youns” to Cambodia as he has done for long time and this pledge is a cheat one because :

- why DOESN’T HE SOLVE Cambodia land problems for NOW when Cambodian poor people sue or complain for their lands confiscated violently or physically by authority or powerful person such as Sambok Chap commune (Phnom Penh city), Koh Mom district ( Ratanakiri province), Mondulkiri province, Banteay Mean Chey province, Païlin, more and more …

- because he wants to continue to keep supplemented borders 1985‘s treaty

- he wants Cambodia laws moving slowest. So he don’t increase salaries for officials or state employees in order to permit them to serve country efficiently

- he wants Cambodia lands along frontier Cambodia-Vietnam to deliver to Vietnamese. So he said he don’t take taxes for land

- … more and more

- in short meaning, He is a TRAITOR

12:57AM, are you Hun Sen S.O.B or relatives?

If you are, that is why you are brainless, YOU ARE NOT SMART! SMART "prochea chun", they have an UNDERSTANDING of the ECOSYSTEM. Do you know why we have chronic DROUGHT at the current situation? Because there's ah "chhkourt" Hun Sen, he thinks cutting down trees are good.

The LESS trees d/t deforestration, the more drought and land erosion we have for the country. See the rich people don't worry about buying food for their family, What about those that depends on the forests for their livelihood? I guessed you don't worry because you're an EGOTISTICAL S.O.B.

Since you're related to Hun Sen and brainless, let me educate you more. Ok, ah maggot (Khmer = dawng kov). PHOTOSYNTHESIS, does it coming to your small brain yet? Do you why you are alive? You are breathing one of the product of the trees what we call it as OXYGEN.

It's too long to educate you regarding the importance of trees. YOUR SMALL BRAIN CANNOT COMPREHEND IT. LONG LIVE "PROCHEA CHUN KHMERS".
