Soldiers remains brought home from Laos, Cambodia

HA NOI — Remains of 41 Vietnamese army volunteers and civilian experts who died in wars in Laos and Cambodia were repatriated to the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Kon Tum yesterday.

The burial service was held in Plei Kan township in Ngoc Hoi District and were buried in Ngoc Hoi Martyrs’ Cemetery.

The provincial Military Command gathered the remains during the 2005-2006 dry season in Atopu, Sekong and Champasac provinces in Laos and Ratana Kiri in Cambodia. Six of them were identified.

The Ngoc Hoi War Cemetery is now home to over 1,000 martyrs from different provinces and cities nationwide. Eighty per cent of them died in wars in Laos and Cambodia. — VNS
