Hundreds of people were left homeless and a pregnant woman was seriously injured after a violent storm hit northwest Cambodia, an official said.
Local government official Thin Nol said the storm ripped into the mostly wooden houses on Thursday in two remote districts in Oddar Meanchey province, 445 kilometers (275 miles) northwest of the capital Phnom Penh.
"Forty eight houses were damaged and one pregnant lady was seriously injured," Thin Nol said.
"No one was killed because people were warned that the storm was coming and evacuated their homes in time," he told AFP.
Red Cross workers and provincial officials would travel to the area to assess the damage and distribute aid, he said, adding that villagers have started repairing their homes.
Impoverished Cambodia is a mainly agricultural country where the vast majority of people live in wooden homes susceptible to bad weather.
