Several days ago, representatives of the committee issuing property titles for rubber plantations personally went to Rattanakiri province to oppose land clearing activities conducted by a Vietnamese company.
Uk Sokhon, head of committee and under-secretary of state of the Ministry of Agriculture explains that this company did not have the authorization to fence the 3-hectare of rubber [plantation] as it did in order to establish there a factory. “The company claimed it bought this land parcel from the inhabitants. On the spot, it cut down 79 rubber trees. We forbid them from continuing, but it refuses to listen to our government officials,” Uk Sokhon said. He also announced the launching a [legal] process by his ministry to block the plan for building this factory.
According to this official, the ownership of the plantation belongs to the local company Tay Seng which owns a 70-year lease and pays the land rent as well as export taxes to the state. At the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, Tay Seng brought the case to court and asks $40,000 in compensation from the Vietnamese company Hang Thang for impairing its ownership.
“Even though it was summoned twice to the court, officers of the Hang Thang company never showed up,” Uk Sokhon said. Muong Poy, Rattanikiri province governor, reports numerous cases of uncontrolled land clearings of rubber trees, aiming at appropriating the land, are occurring. However, this activity tends to diminish with the intervention from the ministry.
According to Hem Sophal, a member of the [Min of Agriculture] committee, the company had suspended its activities following the visit from his department. “However, the company people told us that they are connected with a high ranking government official in Phnom Penh, and that the company only answers to this official,” Hem Sophal stressed. “We have no choice but to follow the legal route.” Officers of the Hang Thang company cannot be contacted yesterday.

Something sound damn fishy here! The Vietcong Company claimed that they want to set up factory process rubber in Cambodia. If this is the case why are these Vietcong go around chopping rubber trees that are producing the rubber for their plant? ahahahha Cambodian people need to understand that the Vietcong will never have any good intention toward Cambodian people! The Vietcong are trying to sabotage Cambodian fledgeling economy! Not long ago AH HUN SEN himself stated publicly to sell off the Cambodian rubber plantation but actually AH HUN SEN wholesaler is reserved for the Vietcong to destroy Cambodian economy and natural resource!
Behind AH HUN SEN is the Vietcong!
I don't have to say no more!
Fishy! Fishy! Tek trey saouy! tek trey saouy!
