The Cambodian Human Rights Action Committee with 21 NGOs as members asks the Supreme Council of the Magistracy to reflect on the judges and the prosecutors candidacy with independence in their tasks without commands from the government.

The civil society officials say that the candidates should finish their legal education with law degrees. They should have high morale, and be honest.

Executive-director of Cambodian Defenders Project Sok Sam Oeun says that qualified and expert women judges and prosecutors should be included to get gender balance.

Khmer Rouge tribunal spokesman Reach Sambath says that the list of the names of the Khmer and foreign judges and prosecutors for the Extraordinary Chamber in the Cambodian court will be announced at the Supreme Council of the magistracy's meeting led by King Sihamoni.
