Chea Mony: Union Member Beaten Outside Factory

By Saing Soenthrith
The Cambodia Daily

A member of the Free Trade Union was beaten unconscious by six assailants outside the Bright Sky Co. garment factory in Dangkao district's Chaom Chao commune on Wednesday morning, FTU President Chea Mony said. Chi Saman, 26, FTU representative at Bright Sky, was beaten at around 5:30 am by the men, who were armed with a metal pipe and wooden stick, Chea Mony said. "He is still unconscious at a private clinic near the factory," Chea Mony said, adding that Chi Saman sustained a gash to his head that required 15 stitches. FTU members are investigating the attack, he said, adding that Chi Saman's attackers were possibly employees at the nearby SunTex factory. Chuon Mom Thol, president of the Cambodian Union Confederation whose members compromise the majority of SunTex workers, said members of his union were not involved in the attack. "This case is not involved with my union," he said. Chuop Sok Heng, deputy district police chief, said he was informed of the attack on Chi Saman but that the victim had not yet filed a complaint. "We are waiting for the complaint from the victim," he said.

Peace for whom?
For the police who do not need to work because hospitalize Cambodian lazy and stupid to come to complain first befor go to hospital or to die?
For the attackers, because the law is on their side?
Thank for the good coorporation of CPP and FUNSUPEC. Thank for the King Father who help put every thing togerther in the Nation. May Mother Earth give justice to them all.
