Twenty-one former employees of Poipet’s Grand Diamond City casino protested in front of the Senate on Thursday demanding that tycoon and CPP Senator Ly Yong Phat give them their jobs back. The former employees, who claim they were fired in November after forming a union under the umbrella group the Cambodian Tourism and Service Workers Federation, said they protested because Ly Yong Phat owns the border casino. "We want the casino to reinstate the 21 union workers," CTSWF President Ly Korm said at the protest. He added that workers will protest in front of the casino if their demands are not met. The Arbitration Council in March ordered the casino to rehire 11 workers and compensate 10, but the casino filed a counter-complaint opposing the council's decision. The casino's lawyer Bun Honn said workers would not be rehired, as the casino no longer trusts them because they are suspected of stealing the casino's gambling chips. Senate Secretary-General Oum Sarith said the protesters should try their luck elsewhere, and that Ly Yong Phat has informed the Senate that he no longer owns the casino. "This should be a court case," he said. Ly Yong Phat could not be reached for comment.

I wondered a longtimes ago where this guy has got his monies from the first place. He is just about 40 years old and was told to have about billions of dollars splashing around. In Cambodia, we didn't see must much of his factory to make monies, sudently, he has monies to build Casino along the border of Thailand, building the bridge, buying a lot of lands and bribing Rannarith with 50 millions dollars to join Hun Sen governemnt etc.. Etc.. Are his monies from HUn Sen or from CPP. He cannot even speak nor write, nor read Cambodain properly ( Very limited in education). He was bornt in a very remote area of Koh Kong. Who know about Him?
I have heard he is VIETNAMESE, (Chinese descent) from CHAUDOC . He recently came in Cambodia.
May be he is YUON PLANT sent by yuons to corrupt our leaders.

No, He is not a vietnamese. He has his mansion in Thailand and has a Thai passport as well. He used to travel around the world for gamblings and monies launderies.
Ly Yong Phat is a Thai national, his real name is Phat Suphapha and he bought his Cambodian passport. He has been investigated by Australia for money laundering associated with his casinos in Koh Kong and Poipet.
hey people, if u do not have the real fact then don't comment. Actually he migrate to Thailand during the Khmer war in 1978 and became thai citizen since. He did went around the world gambling but not money laundering. according to the inner circle society, he is one of the most thrusworthy people. just because he own a casino and the fact that he is rich make people thinks that he is a mafia. u people are just jealous of him having load of money.
