In Thailand, the Thai gov't steps in to deal with rising oil prices

Government Policy to Deal with Rising Oil Prices

Hua Hin Today (Thailand)

BECAUSE of the continually rising oil prices, the Thai government has initiated several measures to assist the general public and the public transportation sector to find solutions using fuel substitution. These measures have been progressively realized in order to alleviate the people’s difficulties caused by the rising fuel costs.

One of the initiatives includes the replacement of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) for the normal fuel used in cars. The Government agreed to bring down the import tax on NGV engines to 0%, whether they are used engines or new engines. The joint committee of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Energy also agreed to reduce the excise tax further for NGV engines in cars, if they were recently installed in the factory, for a period of two years.

The use of gasohol has also proved to be successful. The volume of the gasohol use has been increasing since January and remains popular. The consumption of this new fuel hybrid is at 3.4 million liters per day, an increase of around 432% when compared with the consumption of this fuel in 2005 (0.64 million liters per day). The Ministry of Energy is escalating the production of gasohol to reach eight million liters per day and to produce more ethanol, increasing to 800,000 liters.

Another energy substitute is the promotion of bio-diesel. According to the Cabinet decision, it was agreed to support a project to plant more palm trees. The first phase of this project will run in 2006-2009, aiming to plant six million rai (2.4 million acres) of palm trees. The second phase will start in 2010 and continue to 2012.

The project will be expanded not only in Thailand but to the countries bordering Thailand, which will also benefit from this scheme. Through its cordial relationships with neighboring countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be the liaison for the expansion of palm tree plantations in Lao P.D.R. and Cambodia, which could start producing crude palm oil for consumption and to use as a material for bio-diesel. These are only a few measures the Thai government is initiating as alternatives for energy consumption and to find a sustainable solution to the energy crisis in the future.

AH HUN SEN doesn't have the will to do anything right especially for Cambodian people! There is a few simple reasons for his inaction! HUN SEN had broken too many promises! Too much damage had been done to Cambodian society as whole and no matter what he is going to do and it will never going to be the same! He had committed too many corruptions! Cambodian people never miss a single day without reading something in the newspaper about AH HUN SEN government comitting corruption, after corruption, and more corruption!

Without China and the Vietcong support, AH HUN SEN wouldn't last a few monthS or a few years! I don't believe that AH HUN SEN was smart enough to hold on to power this long and I mean for over 30 years?

The whole picture of AH HUN SEN in power and not willing to do anything to improve the life of million and million of Cambodian people say alot about the Vietcong intention who installed AH HUN SEN in power in the first place! What Cambodian people witnessing today is the problem created by the Vietcong over 30 years ago for Cambodian people to solve! If Cambodian people take AH HUN SEN out of the picture, Cambodian poeple can solve any problem at will! Cambodian people can solve the border issues, human right, economic recovery, nation building, law and order,....

Cambodian people need to disengage with AH HUN SEN and all his Vietcong problems by 2008! If Cambodian people chose to keep AH HUN SEN and I am sure that the problem of AH HUN SEN and the Vietcong will continue to dog Cambodian people! Please no more AH HUN SEN after 2008!

Majority of Khmers will surely support the good leader like Sam Rainsy. Unluckily the FELON HUN XEN and his CPP will have support from YUON POLICE, 4-5 MILLIONS of YUONS with Khmer identity and all the CORRUPTED SDACH, Especially the ARSE-LICKER NORO-DOOM SI-AH-NOUSS. What can we do?

Only the international communities or our uprising that can reform the Cambodia Royal Police!

But it is the root of all problem. They can replace Hun Xen with many CPP or Royal borned.

But if we can take the weapon from the Viet control police force than the viet will loos control of our Cambodia!

Just information we have to work together for this matter.

Do I right Mr. Rainsy?

Police force should be reform by UNTAC in 1993, why you all Paris Signators lett it slip to Hun Sen and Sihanouk dirty hands?

If Sihanouk and Hun sen are good Cambodian, they should ask UN to help one more time.
