The secretary-general of the Funcinpec royalist party denied the various information claiming that he wants to hold the position of president of this party and that he would invite Prince Norodom Ranariddh to become an honorary president instead.
General Nhiek Bun Chhay declared that the allegations made against him are nothing more than attacks and search for his faults.
Nhiek Bun Chhay said: “I tell you, regarding the information which is heard claiming that I want to become the party’s president, and that I want to make Prince Norodom Ranariddh as the honorary president, they are all false and slandering towards me. In truth, I never had the slightest idea on this problem … I still respect and recognize Samdech Krom Preah [Norodom Ranariddh] as the president of the Funcinpec party…”
Nhiek Bun Chhay declared to Phan Sophat of RFA that in fact, he is still working closely on a daily basis with his president, however, Nhiek Bun Chhay cannot provide any answer when asked about the prince current strategy inside the party, nor can he answer about the return of the party president to personally lead the party.
Most analysts said that it was because of this internal struggle, that on 12 June, King-Father Norodom Sihanouk declined the request for an audience by a 10-person Funcinpec delegation led by Nhiek Bun Chhay. King-Father explained in his refusal that if he were to allow the audience with Mr. Nhiek Bun Chhay, he would have to authorize audiences with other national and international VIPs also.

Foxy Hun Sen's tactic did break FUNCIPEC party apart. He is now thinking every night on how to break SRP party similar way. Soon he will come up with something that works effectively as long as the two parties failed into Hun Sen's baits..... That is the problem of being greedy
Nhek Bunn Chhay is a military man and that is all for him. Leave the politics to others that can do a much better job. Let's pick the real Khmer leader that can defend our last Khmer Frontier(Cambodia). No more "monkey" politicians for Khmer please! We need a well-educated, competitive, non-corrupt, non-womanizer, democratic leader. Someone can see the big picture and can defend Cambodia against Viets and Thais. Let's rebuild Cambodia based on hard-work and the intellectual minds rather than solely depending on today Hun Sen regime's dependence on foreign aid, on communist China and Vietnam's dominations on Khmer's soils.
Nhek bunn chhay is not a military man he is only a guarila fighting man, he never go to military school.
We are not depending on Hun Sen he suppress us.
Neck Bunn Chhay just realize that there is a glass cieling for his promotion and now he deny that he want to be a leader of the FUNSINPEC party. If you can't move up then you must move down or stay in the same position or resign! Please pick one because Cambodian people don't have much time for you!
Introduce a law to prevent POUCH TRASAK PAEM from having POLITIC PARTY. We are all fed up of them. This pouch a chol masit creates party just to raise money , to claim BRIBE from HUN SEN, to support Hun Sen to destroy our country. Cambodian are suffering a lot because them and we don't need them anymore.
