Thanh Nien News
A single town in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta has reported pirate attacks on 26 boats so far this year. They were all robbed or held to ransom, mostly by pirates from Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand.
The vessels are registered in Song Doc town of Ca Mau province and were attacked while fishing off the Vietnamese coast.
Nine of them were towed out of Vietnamese waters, two others had to pay a total ransom of US$4,500, and materials worth billions of dong were stolen from the remaining 15.
