Prince Norodom Chakrapong who clashed with Nhiek Bun Chhay, Funcinpec secretary-general, in the past, will pursue his legal case against General Nhiek Bun Chhay for defamation.
However, the prince declared his support for the position adopted by Serei Kosal to withdraw this lawsuit if Nhiek Bun Chhay is willing to beg for pardon first.
Prince Chakrapong said: “I leave it to the lawyer! As I said earlier, my lawyer is taking care of this lawsuit and the timing depends on him entirely. I had at least already prepared all the paper work through my lawyer. Nevertheless, let me say that I support Mr. Serei Kosal who said that [Nhiek Bun Chhay] must ask for pardon then [the lawsuit can be will be withdrawn]. I support H.E. Serei Kosal.”

Nhiek Bun Chhay’s declaration met with denial and led to the defamation lawsuit.

What wrong with just say someone want to set up a political party? If this person prediction is true, it will be just a NEw party to be established and it will prove that the person who say something has a good and creditable information. But if the information was not true, then, the person who has created the information was a liar and his source of information was not creditable.
In reality, do all Cambodian politicians really understood about defamation lawsuite?
-To qualify as defamation, unless the action of a person ( say A) who has defamed another person Say (B) publically. The result of that defamation (A)has damaged (B), his ability to retain his prestige ( eg celebrity) which in return his famous reputation has totally damaged. And the damage of his famous will result as he cannot retain his Good Income and his emotional damage ( all his medical bills). And this defamation lawsuite only can be filed if the defamation is damaging to a private life. But if this person is public figure, this defamation lawsuite cannot be proceeded. As far as Cambodian Constitution concerned, only the King is being protected from defamation.
If a person has been filed of being damaged by defamation of someone, but he still retain his celebrity, he still help the same position and has still earn the same monies, What damage can be proved? Nothing!!!
How about Chakrapong and Nhek Bun Chhay case. What is Chhakrapong being famous for? Good leader? Big businessman? What is his income from his celebrity? If he earn notning he can sue for nothing!!!
