A sick person from Sambok Chab village died from emotional pressure, claimed Human rights doctor and other villagers. The Sambok Chab village was recently torn down by force by the authority.

Kosal, a doctor belonging to the Licadho human rights group, said that the sick 36-year-old villager’s name is Nhem Sophal. He died on 03 June.

Dr. Kosal said: “Because he was under the elements: rain, sun, in the past few days, and he was worried about housing problem, he lived outdoor under the rain, his disease worsened and he died at 1:30 PM…”

On Thursday, human rights group had condemned the action of the government in chasing out thousands of people away from Sambok Chab village, Tonle Bassac district in Phnom Penh. The forced removal has caused a riot.

The latest destruction of houses this week caused an injury on a young girl, and light injury to a pregnant woman.
