The Sotin island (Koh Sotin), Kampong Cham province residents complain about certain fisheries officials taking bribes from monopoly merchants for rights to fish during off season.

Villager Samnang says that local authorities and fisheries officials take bribes from wealthy merchants and allow them to use long nets to catch fish.

Those nets are put in several rivers, thus led to the loss of fish resources for small time resident fishermen.

Samnang says that the off season is when the fish spawn.

The villagers complain that they cannot catch many fish. The villagers say that the middle men went to buy the fish on site from those merchants.

There are plenty of fish to go around for Cambodian people and this is the reason why Cambodian people go starving!

Cambodia need anti-corruption law now!
