Ho Vann, the Phnom Penh MP, considers the fact that the Phnom Penh municipality authority had only issued to people summarily information right before proceeding to the actual demolition of people’s homes in order to evict them, is illegal.
In a letter sent to Sar Kheng, the vice-prime minister and minister of Interior, at the end of last week, SRP MP Ho Vann requested the government to prevent such action by local authorities, and to punish the perpetrators as well as those who are behind this action.
In his letter, Mr. Ho Vann raised the issue of the demolition of a house belonging to the family of Keo Yeung in Domnak Thom village, Steung Mean Chey district. Armed guards led by the Khan Mean Chey authority surrounded the home of Keo Yeung and demolished his house to take the land and give it to a [private] company which is building homes for sale on a large plot of former state land. The National Radio department sold the land to this private company.
Mr. Ho Vann indicated in his letter that the armed guards and the authority summarily informed the home owner on the application of the eviction when they showed up to demolish the home. They also beat and use guns to shoot the family members of Keo Yeung, severely wounding Keo Yeung himself, it is not yet known if he survived the gun shot or not.
Up to now, no reply has yet been provided by the ministry of Interior on the request made this MP.

Enough is enough, if anyone reading this message; I tell you that Hun Sen granted asylum to Bin laden. Come on, President W, we need your Nuclear Stealth Bombers, just dropped the Fat Boy in Hun Sen's lap.
I begged you (GWB) to end the suffering. We will rebuild...
AH HUN SEN is not asking for stability of Cambodia but he is demanding that there must an instability to Cambodia. AH HUN SEN is planting the seed of destruction! This bastard must be stopped!
Bush doesn't care a shit about Cambodia because it doesn't have oil like in the middle East.
I think Cambodians are now relying to sam rainsy party for their future. Therefore, I urge member of Sam Rainsy to register all victims names from all kind of land grabbings by businessmen of Cambodia. These people will be able to sue their culprit into the future when we have a good government. Please refer all businessmen names who have created suffering to other to all Embassies in Phnom Penh, so that all their criminals activities can be recorded in their data base to ban them to enter into their coubtry and their monies will not be able to transfer to overseas for monies laundering. They will have to pay a high price to all their victims. eg Kith Meng, Mong Rithy, Kok An, Hok Lundy, Yeay Phu, Ly Yong Phath etc....
We do have OIL in our country. Chevron company has been drilling offshore for at least 10 years. Today, in 2006, they drilling 10 more well in Block A. Japan, Singapore, and China are in it too. Hun Sen will benefit from this oil exploration, and looks like he's going to get richer and does not give a dam about Cambodia people.
Bush allows China's unfair trade practice for years. He also allows North Korea to threat security.
American people get enough borrow China's money to run its economy.
China, Burma, North Korea, and soon Cambodia will draw US into region conflect in 2010's.
Don't worry, Kim Jung Il, Than Shwe, and Hun Sen won't be in power long. Japan will strike North Korea, Vietnam will invade Cambodia, Thailand will attack Burma......see below:
But Myanmar does have some allies, Silverstein says: "China and Russia are two crucial friends."
And both are veto-wielding powers on the Security Council. China's ties to Myanmar run deep. Trade between the two nations amounted to $1.145 billion in 2004, according to the Chinese government, and China is a major military supplier to Myanmar.
China's reluctance for a change in the status quo in Myanmar is the main obstacle in the Bush administration's push for a resolution in the U.N. "I would say mostly our discussions are about our disagreements with China," says U.S. mission spokesman Richard Grenell.
Since the SPDC assumed control in 1988, Myanmar has received over $2 billion worth of weapons from China. The regime also has forged close military ties with Russia and is broadening economic ties with India and other nations in the region.
How long can Khmers endure these barbaric treatment from the corrupted officials? Don't we have anyone in Cambodia that can stand up to these bastards? Surely, we have someone, right of the 9 million Khmer?
The ways these officials treated them, forced someone out of their property, and forced to sign the deeds to someone else benefit is barbaric indeed!
We need to have a Civil War, Khmer people Vs. the current regime (CPP).
the sam rainsy party won't do a thing to follow up on this. i recall he also made a visit to sambok chap community and promised the residents he would 'write a letter.' less than a month later all were evicted. all talk.
Yes. It is all talk but no walk.
