Foreign news media generally nickname Ta Mok “The Butcher”, however, the majority of people in Anlong Veng love Ta Mok and claim that he was kind hearted as he used to be a monk.
In order to find out more on Ta Mok, RFA’s Phan Sophat interviewed Mr. Pen Sovann, the former Cambodian Prime Minister during the People’s Republic of Kampuchea era who knew Ta Mok very well when he served as Ta Mok’s messenger during the (anti-French) Issarak movement (in the 50s).

If I were Hun Sen, I would have to kill Ta Mok too because Ta Mok Knew so much about my past and my internal political affair, which could incriminate me and my administration.

The more I read about TA MOK through the media and the more it doesn't make a whole lots sense to me! The Cambodian news(especially the CPP pro-Vietcong) and the foreign news are just repeating each other and saying the same of shit bad stuff about TA MOK! The CPP pro-Vietcong had been painted a very bad picture of TA MOK as some sort of super super evil human who is incapable of having a human quality but only a savage animal who loved to killed Cambodian people and it is he alone who took part in the genocide of 1.7 million Cambodian people! Over the years before TA MOK death, the CPP pro-Vietcong propaganda tirelessly continue to paint a bad image of TA MOK until the world bought into it! The Vietcong had succeeded in their propaganda and it is a sweet revenge! People need to understand why the Vietcong hated TA MOK so much and not AH HUN SEN who is also a Khmer Rouge? Well, during the 10 years of Vietcong occupation of Cambodia, TA MOK is one of the ruthless resistence fighter leaders along Thai-Cambodian border who succeeded in demoralize the Vietcong soldiers and the Vietcong paid dearly with their life for their occupation of Cambodia! Simply put TA MOk is the number one Vietcong killer and this is why the Vietcong and CPP will never forgive TA MOK and they make sure that TA MOK will never have another chance at life after he was captured!
The Vietcong love AH HUN SEN to death! After took part in killing of 1.7 million Cambodian people, AH HUN SEN fled to Vietname and came back to Cambodia with over one million Vietcong troop to take advantage of the killing and present themselves to Cambodian people as their savior! The Vietcong couldn't ask for a better slave than AH HUN SEN! There are alot of Khmer ROuge in AH HUN SEN government right now who are more interested in kissing the Vietcong ass then to kick their ass! AH HUN SEN Khmer Rouge kissed the Vietcong so much to the point the Vietcong gave him the undisputed power to steal everything from Cambodian people to become self-made millionaire! ahahahah
TA MOK made it known to the world many times in the past that he want to stand trail before he die and he promised to expose everything that he knows about the genocide of Cambodian people! He wanted so bad for the Cambodian people to know his role during the Khmer Rouge and he even requested to put his writing in detail surrounded the event that took the life of over 1.7 million Cambodian people to Cambodian newspaper but AH HUN SEN pro-Vietcong refused him every turn! Why AH HUN SEN is afraid of TA MOK for speaking out? Does AH HUN SEN has something to hide from Cambodian people?
I truely believe without TA MOK and other resistence fighters, the Vietcong will never leave Cambodia and the Vietcong would still be in Cambodia right now enjoying seeing Cambodian people as their slave like the Khmer Krom people! The Vietcong used to boast to world that they beat the French, the Japanese, the American...and they are invincible but TA MOK make these Vietcong leave Cambodia in disgrace and now these Vietcong can't go around saying anything anymore!ahahahah
The real human side of TA MOK revealed during his funeral and poor average Cambodian people show up in the thousand praising him for helping them! This is where I don't understand why they called him the "butcher" unless they are his enemy! The Vietcong are his enemy and that is why they called him the butcher! This is a sweet revenge for the Vietcong!
The World only came to know TA MOK as the "butcher" through the CPP pro-Vietcong government propaganda when they captured him! I just can't go around believing propaganda!
