Retired King Norodom Sihanouk on Saturday predicted the outright failure of the party soon to be launched by his nephew Prince Sisowath Thomico, saying it sought to revive a "dead" ideology and that the prince was exploiting the former King's popularity.

Prince Thomico last month announced his intention to form a new party based on the ideals of Norodom Sihanouk's pre-war coalition governments of 1955 to 1970.

The former King wrote in a message posted on his Web site that Prince Thomico will likely campaign on his "war horse"— the question of Cambodia's territorial integrity.

But he added that the prince will likely be defeated like Napoleon Bonaparte was at the Battle of Waterloo.

The ideals of the Sangkum Reastr Niyum are "truly dead" and in associating his party with them, "Thomico is thinking only of the popularity of N Sihanouk," the retired King wrote.

Norodom Sihanouk also said only an "infinitesimal" number of Funcinpec members "despairing for a cause" would be drawn to the new party.

Last week, an adviser to Prince Norodom Ranariddh said party officials had refused to forward Prince Thomico's request for the party's dissolution to the party president.

Prince Thomico had tried to tell the Funcinpec leader that the royalist movement was beset with factionalism and had to be reunified as a new party.

"One must see His Majesty's texts as a call to modesty," Prince Thomico said Sunday. The new party will be unveiled at a Thursday press conference, he added.

I dare to say this again. NEVER DREAM TO WIN THE MAJORITY in the 2008 election. Your party WILL NOT even GET ANY SEAT in the parliment. NO HOPE for you. It's not too late for you to back off. Please, Do not waste your time, energy and money like HUNGRY-CRAZY CHAKRAPONG, half-cooked brother of WOMENIZER RANNARIDhhDSSXXX.
If your PURE INTENTION IS TO HELP Re-BUILD CAMBODIA, would you mind just JOIN HANDS with Sam Rainsy instead?? Well, I am afraid that you are really HUNGRY for 'power' not 'PROSPERITY of the CAMBODIA'.. WHO KNOWS but you do, Thomico..
