The Sam Rainsy Party announced Friday that it will remove 24 commune councilors and revoke their party memberships for allegedly taking bribes in exchange for voting for CPP officials in the national village chief elections. At a press conference at SRP headquarters, SRP lawmaker Eng Chhay Eang said the councilors come from Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, as well as the provinces of Kandal, Takeo, Kompong Thorn, Kompong Speu, Prey Veng, Koh Kong, Kampot and Siem Reap. He said that the party has won only two village chief positions in Phnom Penh, while the CPP has won 600 there. With the village chief elections almost over, the SRP has notched up only 42 of the positions outside Phnom Penh. Cambodia has more than 13,000 villages. Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak said the elections have been conducted democratically, adding that the SRP is only claiming irregularities because it has fared poorly. "It is normal that the loser cries foul. It is like the boy who loses at cards and cries," he said. He added that SRP commune councilors did not vote for their party because the party is internally divided.

Good for you, SRP. You set the example, now lets see if CPP can do the same.
Don't dream about it for others to do the same. They feeds on corruptions and the poors. Have a good weekend?
Sam Rainsy must call Khiev Sopheak to be fired. As a policeman he cannot make any comment on election result. This kind of comment can only came from National committee of election. Police must be neutral and serve the people instead of favoring political party. He is not qualified to make that comment. Therefore to lesson to other public servants, sam rainsy must call on the Ministry of interieur to sake this bigmouth policeman.
This is an uphill battle. How does anybody break a corrupted political system that sponsored by the World Bank and United Nations? Cambodian people used free fair voting system but the incumbent political system doesn't recognize it! How much longer Cambodian people continue to use peaceful mean or the democratic voting system?
It is only right that "The Sam Rainsy Party announced Friday that it will remove 24 commune councilors and revoke their party memberships for allegedly taking bribes in exchange for voting for CPP officials in the national village chief elections." more to come!
