THE TABITHA FOUNDATION UK PRESENTS UNUSUAL GIFT GIVING INSPIRATION FOR ANY OCCASSION WITH WELLS FOR LIFE:
For the person who has everything, from clean water, good health and a better income…
You can even name a star after someone special, but the person who has everything might prefer a more constructive use of your gift-giving pound!
For £60.00 (generous but by no means extravagant), Tabitha Foundation UK will construct a well to benefit families in Cambodia. For each well purchased, the donor receives a personalized certificate suitable for a festive gift, keepsake, ‘in memory’ donation, or special thank-you.
70% of Cambodians have no access to clean, potable water near their homes. The ‘wells project’ began in 2001, under the umbrella of Tabitha Cambodia, an organisation which works for sustainable development in this desperately poor country. Each well serves five families, and enhances their quality of life almost immeasurably. There is a decrease in incidence of diarrhoea and skin infections, and general health and weight gain improve. Further, the access to water enables these families to start a small vegetable garden or raise livestock – each provides a much–needed boost to family income.
Last year, Tabitha UK funded approximately 200 wells. Yolanda Henry, Chair of the organisation, remarked, ‘Buying a well is a unique and caring gift for your loved one, while at the same time assisting those who can barely hope for the necessities of life.’
As well as an unusual, imaginative and worthy gift, the ‘wells project’ makes a perfect club, office or class fundraiser. In fact, this year one Surrey school fundraised and purchased 30 wells!
Tabitha-Cambodia is a sustainable non-profit organization with minimal overheads and running cost. Tabitha Foundation UK is a volunteer organization supporting the work of Tabitha Cambodia. Charity Registration Number 1102500.
