Cambodia, Vietnam to promote [one-sided trade deficit] cross-border trade

Business and government officials from Cambodia and Vietnam agreed to enhance trading alliances among the two countries' businesses in a bid to boost bilateral trade, local media reported on Monday.

Trade between the two countries could be worth about 900 million U.S. dollars in 2006, Business Press quoted the official figure as saying.

Vietnam's deputy minister of trade said last week at a forum that he was optimistic that the ways could be find to increase both countries' trade to one billion dollars in 2007.

Kith Meng, president of the Phnom Penh Chamber of Commerce, said that Cambodia earned approximately 46 million dollars from exporting products to Vietnam in 2005, but spent 180 million dollars on Vietnamese imports during that year.

Vietnamese authorities recently allowed Cambodians duty free access to 40 types of agricultural products, Kith Meng said, adding that the commercial plan will be implemented in the near future.

According to a local media, the two governments have arranged to create seven special economic zones along the border and about 20 border crossings in order to facilitate trade between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Kith Meng's quotation "Cambodia earned approximately 46 million dollars from exporting products to Vietnam in 2005, but spent 180 million dollars on Vietnamese imports during that year".

Which country are you try to promote the cross-border trade Mr. KM?. According to your above calculation, Cambodian govern't won't earn a done thing to generate income of a revenue for the nation.
Khmers'agricultural producte are more organic and the best quality in international market nowaday, but if you deal with a middle-man businesses such as Viet, Khmers producers could only earn for a daily living and won't be enough to save up at all.
The best commodity nowaday is in the westerns communities market place that could helpe generate some more income to those khmers producers in Cambodia. The WTO is for Cambodia govern't to try out---isn't it Mr.KM?

AH HUN SEN and his cronies had been brainwashed by the Vietcong into believing that Cambodia as a country will benefit Cambodian people greatly as long as Cambodia stick with the Vietcong policy! I had seen enough already of Vietcong policy including the signing of illegal border treaty of 1985! What is next!

AH KITH MENG is just another Vietcong trained economist! This bastard need to be hunted down!
