Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen has vowed to bring surviving Khmer Rouge leaders to justice.

He has also criticised the United Nations for its role in what he calls giving legitimacy to the genocidal regime.

The UN did not recognise the Vietnamese-led government that overthrew Pol Pot in 1979 and the Khmer Rouge kept a seat in the UN.

After many years of stalled negotiations, a United Nations-backed tribunal to try Khmer Rouge leaders was formed last month.

However, the death of the regime's elderly military chief Ta Mok two weeks ago, was a blow to the tribunal

Surviving members of the regime are also elderly, prompting fears they too could die before trial.
