VietNamNet Bridge - A Vietnam Cultural Week will be held in Cambodia from Aug. 28-Sept. 1 on the occasion of Vietnam's 61st National Day (Sept. 2), the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts reported at a press conference on Aug. 22.

The event will be jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information, the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia.

Ouk Socheat, Under Secretary of State for Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, told the press that the cultural week is an activity under the two countries' cooperation programme, aiming to boost the traditional friendly ties between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Vietnam Cultural Week in Cambodia also aims to create opportunities for artists, actors and actresses as well as cultural workers of the two countries to exchange experiences, so they can help preserve and develop cultural identities of the countries.

During the week, art performances, fashion shows, fine arts exhibitions and screenings of Vietnamese modern films will be organised. Cultural exchange activities between artists of the two countries will also be held.

The Cambodian Under Secretary of State said that they have devised a plan to protect the copy right for Vietnamese cultural and fine art works on show during the cultural week.

He also noted that the organisation of the Cambodia Cultural Week in Vietnam has been agreed to by the two ministries and it will be held in the near future.
