A ruling Cambodian People's Party's (CPP) high ranking official Monday says that the plan to form a nationalist alliance between opposition Sam Rainsy party (SRP) and Prince Norodom Ranariddh's royalist FUNCINPEC party might make the CPP concerned in the 2008 national election.

The concerns occur after Prince Ranaraddh has a plan to invite SRP to join his party in forming a nationalist alliance to compete with the CPP in the national election.

National Assembly's president and honorary CPP's president Heng Samrin told reporters at the Assembly that this alliance's goal is to show unification against the CPP, but this alliance cannot win over the CPP, and that the CPP still wants to make the FUNCINPEC its ally.

He says that the alliance likes to go around and sling muds at other party's members, but that the CPP will get the people to support it.

SRP's president Sam Rainsy says that he does not object to the formation of a nationalist alliance, and will consider its feasibility leaving the two parties' representatives the opportunity to find a formula to avoid past consequences.

Rainsy says that, with past experiences, he knows some politicians' practices, those who betray their own promises. He says that some politicians acknowledged their mistakes, and benefited from their cooperation.

Prince Ranariddh's adviser Ok Socheat says that the "50+1" formula is dangerous, because one party can control the country.

Cambodia Center for Human Rights' (CCHR) director Kem Sokha says that he is not surprised, and that he is not sure whether or not the alliance will benefit the country.

Mr. Kem says that if this alliance were to be formed for an individual's power, and not for the human rights or democracy, then it is useless.

He says that it all depends on the two.

ahahaha! AH SVA HENG SAMKIS care more about what CPP want? The CPP want FUNSINPEC as an ally but the CPP made it clearly that the FUNSINPEC'leader(Prince of thief!) must stay outside the country while hundred of FUNSINPEC officials joined the CPP clans in the coming day before 2008 election! I don't even know what to make of this! FUNSINPEC is not an ally because it is not even a party! Every political party has a leader! So where is the leader of FUNSINPEC PARTY? The CPP don't know how to lie!

According to Kem Sokha, It all depend on Sam Rainsy and Prince of Banit? No it is all depend on Sam Rainsy. The Prince is out of politic already and there should no further negotiation with the Prince anymore!

Nationalists Alliance? It is just a joke. Prince Rannariddh is a monkey run out of trees. His threatrical character cannot be trusted and his manipulative attitude is not fit to be alliance with any party at all.FUNCINPEC has badly run by the Autocratic and corrupt Princce. Furthermore, most FUNCINPEC members are corrupt and opportunistic.

While the sense of national unity remains, SRP must learn well from the past experiences before jump into any conclusion to form alliance with FUNCINPEC. Every one allows to make mistake. The first mistake normally considered to be lacking of experience, but the second mistake on the same matter is a fool and stupit. Up to now, SRP has done well by its own ability. If SRP allows itself to be used by the prince again, serious question will be asked on the judgment ability of SRP leader.

The old proverb says, if you are bitten by a dog, it's the dog false, if the dog bites you the second time, it is your false. Rannariddh bites Sam Rainsy twice already. If he lets the dog strikes him the 3rd time, god helps SRP...
