A few days after the announcement of the name of the new party led by Prince Thomico, the Sangkum Cheat Niyum Front, leaders of this party officially visited for the first time, six districts of Kompong Cham province in order to meet with sympathizers. “Our message here, is to explain to our members that we form a single party,” declared Suth Dina, the party secretary-general and spokesman of the party formed by the fusion of eight other groups. “We must learn how to work together, and make it such that everybody know each other.” According to Suth Dina, the leaders have met altogether almost 2,000 activists from the various groups that joined the Front. “The members said that they want to dedicate themselves entirely for the victory of the election,” Suth Dina reported. The party also promised to present candidates to the upcoming commune election in 2007, and the legislative election in 2008. According to Suth Dina, the Sangkum Cheat Niyum Front counts almost 400,000 members in the entire country. “We hope to win the elections because our forces are united,” he said.
