HANOI (AFP) - Laos Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh started a regional tour to neighboring Vietnam and Cambodia in his first trip abroad since his appointment in June.
Bouasone, 52, arrived in Hanoi Tuesday morning accompanied by several cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.
"In the current complicated regional and world situation, the visit ... contributes to the consolidation of trust and high unanimity between the two governments and peoples," said Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung after the welcoming ceremony.
No bilateral agreements are to be signed during the visit, which is essentially aimed at organizing discussions between the two administrations. Both prime ministers and cabinets are new, having been appointed in June.
"It is Bouasone's first trip abroad since he got the job and he wanted to meet the new Vietnamese leaders," Laos foreign ministry spokesman, Yong Chantalangsy, told AFP.
Vietnam and Laos have been political allies since 1975 when the Lao People's Democratic Republic was founded and Vietnam was reunited following the collapse of the US-backed Saigon regime.
During the three-day visit, Bouasone is also scheduled to meet party leader Nong Duc Manh and President Nguyen Minh Triet.
He will then go to Phnom Penh, where he is expected to discuss bilateral border issues.
"He will hold talks on the border demarcation," Yong said. "The two countries have progressed and are willing to find a definite solution."

Loa always look toward the Vietcong first and Cambodia must look the other way! Don't and never let the Loa hang on to Cambodia!
Cambodia need to look beyond the Thai, the Viet, and the Loa as good neighbor!
Hear me loud and clear...those who try to claim Cambodia land via any kind of border concerns will face severe consequences, particularly the 'poisonous' SOB, hippocrit Vietnamese! Along goes with other barbaric neighboring countries! You (Vietnam, others) dare to 'steal', claim Cambodia land in any way that breaks the border international law will face extreme consequences. Your 'roots' better not crawl near our land or else.
Never trust, interact, communicate, negotiate with the Vietnamese. They are poisonous, hippocrit and barbaric things; they are the plaque of society. It is wise to get rid of this plaque as it nears Cambodia empire/land.

Laos is the only neighbor that is not anything of Thailand or Vietnam. Vietnam had illegally encroached into Laos, so it would be very wise of Cambodia to be a good friend with Laos, because their enemy is Vietnam.
Sure I hear you loud and clear. You're hipocrit, not the Vietnamese. "The Barking dog never bits". To me "Picture worths a thousand words". It's the metality that I see most Cambodians have just like you. Can we stop accusing others...instead try to get along with each others. First of all, We should thank the Vietnamese for invading Cambodia in 1978. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing this comment. :-) Second, now, who wants to invade Cambodia? For what? Cambodia has nothing left except it's poor people.
I think it's time to move forward and try to re-build our country and educate our people to the best we can. Our country is so poor and we have no time, but to build it.
Invade Cambodia for what?
Well, there are at least half a million Youns, Vietnamese, in Cambodia at the present time. Some of them must be related to you Dan. What are they doing? Steeling, taking food from the Cambodians. If Vietnam is such a good country none of you would have left Vietnam. We can be friends when you decide to stay in your country. Your country? What about the Chams?
