Phnom Penh (dpa) - Wrangling over revenues from joint offshore oil reserves was expected to continue to prove a hot topic during Thai caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's visit to Cambodia, reported local media Wednesday.
Speculation that talks over oil and gas will take precedence was fuelled by reports in local Khmer-language media Wednesday that Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and Secretary-General of the National Oil Authority Te Duong Dara had just returned from discussions on the topic in Bangkok and Dara had indicated that the issue was not yet resolved.
The two neighbouring nations are disputing what ratio each should be awarded from the so-called Joint Development Area which lies between them in the Gulf of Thailand.
Cambodia has demanded a far greater share of lucrative potential oil and gas reserves than Thailand has so far been willing to concede.
Thaksin will meet with Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday and also receive an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni during the one-day visit. Border issues are also expected to be discussed, according to a statement from the Cambodian Foreign Ministry.

That what an idiot Thai always do, the land belong to Cambodia, then they said a part is theirs too, when we agreed to put this place as Join Development Area, then they want better share.....may be they think with an eye prime minister cannot see clearly..... i hope Hun Sen also a good caretaker for the nation, not only for his family....and Gang team.
Now, that we have OIL venture, the WORLD will eyes on Cambodia. The Vietnamese and Thais would fight or eat up The boarder and water.
