Some white people especially the American and the European, they never understand why Cambodian people built a house like that! They think Cambodian people don't have the brain to built a decent house!

There you have it! It is because of the flooding from the heavy rain every year!

I'm a white American living in Cambodia for many years. I know hundreds of Americans and Europeans and have never heard ONE person say anything like that. You just haven't met the right foreigners yet. Don't give up, keep looking! :-)
