Rumors Fly Over Heng Pov's Whereabouts

Rumors of Heng Pov's whereabout is flying all over the place in Cambodia. However, the most comical ones came from Cheam Yiep, the CPP MP, who threatened diplomatic relation agravations between Cambodia and any country which would accept Heng Pov as a refugee. Unfortunately, MP Cheam Yiep forgot that Hun Sen's Cambodia is in no position to dictate any diplomatic relation retaliation, simply because this regime is so much dependent on foreign aids. Cheam Yiep also claimed that Heng Pov face serious charges in Cambodia's courts. There again, MP Cheam Yiep knows full well that the Cambodian court system is internationally known as being very corrupt and only serves the interest of the regime. Had the Hun Sen regime been deemed non corrupt, it can claim to take the higher roads, but as it is, the regime is no position to dictate any international conduct in Heng Pov's case. The exact whereabouts of Heng Pov remained a mystery on Friday with government officials claiming he was still in Singapore but rumors placing the fugitive former Phnom Penh police chief as far away as Paris and at Singapore's international airport boarding a plane with agents from the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

Interior Ministry Penal Police Chief Mok Chito said the government has not been informed of a departure by Heng Pov from Singapore and police there have guaranteed to keep Phnom Penh informed of Heng Pov's movements.

"There are lots of rumors including someone who saw him eating noodles at a restaurant in Paris," Mok Chito said.

"There is no news about his departure. Singapore [police] and Interpol are looking out for him. If the DEA or UN [High Commissioner for Refugees] accepts him, they will immediately inform us," he said.

"Singaporean police are very strict in their job," he added.

CPP lawmaker Cheam Yeap said on Friday that any country considering Heng Pov's request this week for asylum should understand that he is a common criminal with serious charges lodged against him in Cambodia's courts.

"Accepting [Heng Pov] is the right of an individual country, but they should think about the interest of the country that he originally came from," Cheam Yeap said. "It would not be good for the one who opens an entrance for the criminal."

He said that diplomatic relations with the country that accepts Heng Pov might suffer.

National Military Police Commander Sao Sokha, who had alleged been marked for assassination by Heng Pov, declined to comment on the case but likened the former municipal police chief to a "dead crocodile."

An arrest warrant was issued for Heng Pov late last month for the assassination of a judge and the attempted assassination of three others.

it’s funny. all the reports wrote about Heng Pov failed to mention one very important fact that is so obvious and so direct.

Heng Pov got to where he was because he was a viet-khmer, married a viet woman, and his father in law is a viet agent in PP. this is a fact, straight and direct. Heng Pov or anyone else can be 100 times more talented, more brave, more ruthless, more efficient, more daring, more whatever… will never rise to Heng Pov’s position, will never ever be that close to Hun Sen’s inner circle. yet no one mentioned this, no one mention the web of strings being pulled from Hanoi by vietnam at the highest level and at all levels of Cambodia’s CPP party. this fact only to explain the bizzare behavior of the cambodian govt that at times seemed anti-khmer, anti-progess, and ganster-like.

if heng pov gets to talk, he will expose the most outrageous stories of how vietnam manipulates Cambodia into a disastrous country and killing all the dissents.
