Thaksin to discuss energy, border issues in Cambodia

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will visit Cambodia next Thursday to discuss border issues and energy cooperation, said caretaker Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon. Mr Kantathi said Mr Thaksin discussed the need to bolster co-operation by removing obstacles to border projects when he met Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen during a flight to Brunei last month to attend the birthday celebrations of the Sultan of Brunei.

The Cambodian premier agreed to look into boundary demarcation both on land and in water, Mr Kantathi said.

Sources said the date of the Cambodian visit was fixed by the leaders during the flight but planning for it, unlike Mr Thaksin's recent trip to Burma, started some time earlier.

The Thai side wanted the overlapping marine boundary to be developed like the joint development area Thailand has with Malaysia, and hoped some progress would be made, Mr Kantathi said.

Sources said Thailand's energy demands could help resolve the long-standing marine boundary question, which has prevented exploration and development of an overlapping area believed to hold large oil and gas reserves.

The 30,000-square-kilometre area in the upper half of the Gulf of Thailand could become a new source of energy for the country.

Thailand currently taps gas from the joint development area with Malaysia in the lower part of the Gulf.

The sources said there were also prospects for oil and gas in Vietnamese fields close to the Thai coast.

Also on the agenda for the talks in Phnom Penh is upgrading Highway 67, which Thailand is supporting, sources said. The route links Chong Sa-ngam in Surin with Anlong Veng in northern Cambodia, and continues southwest to Siem Reap.

What is the hell! AH THAKSIN SHINAWATRA want more than he can chew? If the fucken boundry is overlapping between Cambodia and the Thai. The formula to share any natural resource within the overlapping boundry is Thai 50%: Cambodia 50%! But no AH HUN SEN gave the fucken Thai 60% and AH HUN SEN took 40%! And the fucken Thai are still not happy? Hey! It is too bad that life is not fair, otherwise the fuken Thai can send their navy and marine and Cambodia people can help the Muslim in the Southern Thailand to free themselves from the Thai!

My fucken deal would be 50%:50% and take it or leave it! This make Cambodian people like me feel no less than a human! It is because you are Cambodian and that is why you deserve less? Hell no! Fuck the Thai! The Thai ove-population need more natural resources than Cambodia! Cambodia shouldn't be in a rush to agree to anything with the Thai! No fucken pressuring tactic from the Thai!

Cambodian leaders must look around the world and how other country cooperated in the field of sharing natural resources before making stupid and corrupted decision!

I believed the oil & gas resouces are locating in the deepest part of the Gulf. If Khmer dig on their side, the enire oil & gas will flow toward Khmer side.... The best solution is to allow negotiation take place. My suggestion to this issure is 60% to Khmer & 40% to thai, this is the fairness resolution. I believed the thai is planning to pay for the Highway cost then negotiate for the oil & gas deal...

Khmer need to strengten their tie with Thai, but Khmer deserve the highest respect ever before. Khmer is not at war nor need all those resouces to survive...
