By Kay Kimsong
The Cambodia Daily
Cambodia and Vietnam have agreed to study exploring for oil underneath the Tonle Sap Lake as well as offshore along their mutual sea border, Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said after a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung. On Tuesday, the government announced the intention to explore for oil offshore despite the inability of Cambodia and Vietnam to demarcate the border. Instead, Vietnamese petroleum experts will meet with their Cambodian counterparts to commence studying the seabed and Tonle Sap. He said that Vietnam and Cambodia will work together to map mineral areas in order to locate deposits of metals and bauxite. The men also discussed possible Vietnamese investment in rubber plantations and a joint venture in banking, he added.

Yes well done, after the land, sea, island now come to the natural resource. why don't you guy give them Angkor wat Hun Sen?
pathetic how Cambodians are working hand in hand with the enemies... why can't we just search for the oil ourselves?
Tonle Sap is the source of Cambodian fishery! If the Vietcong are allowed to drill for oil in Tonle Sap the toxic and the spillage from drilling will damage the fish population and those poor Cambodian who depend on fish will suffer even more!
Cambodia is the source of all economic activities and the Vietcong have nothing!
The Vietcong don't even have technology and yet they want to be the middle man! And, AH HUN SEN want to split 50% of Cambodian natural resource with the Vietcong?
This doesn't make any economic sense whatsoever! AH HUN SEN is digging his own grave!
Tonle Sap is only second to Angkor Wat. And, the Viets know Cambodia too well. One way to choke Khmer to death and to complete the Vietnamization of Cambodia is by bringing the Khmers to their knees after breaking their spirit with the Killing Fields. The Viets must do what is necessary and the time is NOW while the outside world outweighs "PEACE" in CAMBODIA as a good thing and as America honors Kissinger's word to the Viets - "Cambodia is yours (Vietnam)"!
