Prime minister Hun Sen of Cambodia and Nguyen Tan Dung, the new prime minister of Vietnam, are planning to meet each other to inaugurate the installation of common border markers on 27 Sept in Bavet, Svayrieng province. Cambodia officials are considering the event as historical.

Khieu Kanharith, the Cambodian government spokesman, told RFA on Saturday 23 Sept: “The installation of the first marker is nothing more than the initiation of what we had already decided on the maps onto the actual location.”

He also indicated that, according to the agreement, the prime ministers of both countries will be the honor guests of the event, and that it will be participated also by a number of Cambodian government officials.

He added that in the work performed by the government, if there are representatives of any political party who want to participate in order to observe on their own, the government is welcoming them.

Var Kim Hong, chairman of the joint committee for the resolution of border issues, said that the Cambodian prime minister and his Vietnamese counterpart will cut the ribbon to inaugurate the installation of the border marker, and the event will also be participated by 2,000 to 3,000 citizens from both countries. He added that his committee will also invite Funcinpec party officials in the coalition government.

Nhiek Bun Chhay, Funcinpec secretary-general, said that if the government will invite Funcinpec representatives, he will designate representatives to participate: “If there is an invitation we will go, but up to now, we did not receive it yet. If there is an invitation, we will go…”

Kong Korm, SRP interim president, said: “SRP does not agree with the supplemental border treaty to the 1985 border treaty, we do not support it. There is a disadvantage in the installation of markers along the delineation that have been agreed on, there are irregularities.”

Sean Pengse, President of the Cambodia’s Border Committee in France, said in his reaction: “According to our committee, this installation of markers is considered as void because it does not respect the 1992 Paris Agreement [on Cambodia], and it does respect the constitution.”

The plan for the official inauguration by the leaders from both countries at the end of next week follows the previous groundbreaking ceremony of the marker site held on 11 Sept 2006 at the Bavet border entry. This is the first step leading to the installation of a total of 353 markers along the 1,270-kilometer border between Cambodia and Vietnam.

According to reports and a number of sources, Vietnam will spend $15 million [for the installation of border markers], half of which will be paid by Cambodia.

Just look at the picture: Hun Sen smiled with his mouth closed. It seems he has got something to hide from the Cambodian public. On the contrary, Pham Van Khai smiled with a sense of vitory of getting what he wanted for Vietnam.

Hun Sen jailed border activists for their protest against the supplemental border treaty. He ordered the media to toe his line and praised the supplemental border treaty. He banned public demonstrations against his border deal with the Viets. He put up a banner above the road leading to the Angkor Wat temple praising this sham border agreement. His cronies around the country, claiming to represent Cambodian people and civil servants, broadcast their messages of support for Hun Sen on the mainstream media. The people voices are suppressed and demonstrations are banned. If he thinks he is right on this issue, why imprisoning people and attempting to fool the Khmer population?

Whatever show Hun Sen puts up on the media under his control, there is no question in the hearts and minds of the Khmer people that he will still go down in the Cambodia's history as a shameful leader who gave away Cambodia's territories to the Viets. There are people calling him a traitor, and the same goes for his clueless supporters. With $10 millions in his pocket, Nhiek Bun Chhay is prepared to endorse anything Hun Sen throws at him.

The Viets engineered the Killing Fields to crush Khmer's spirit; the Viets use HUN SEN to finish off Khmer as a race and a nation by pouring millions of native VIET (bamboo race) into CAMBODIA. Ah Viet's dog HUN SEN is the ultimate criminal of the 21st century. Despite the Viet's efforts to change HISTORY from within Vietnam and elsewhere around the world, history will see and condemn the VIETS in the end.

If any of the border markers found to be too far into Cambodian land and it will be blown up by very powerful dynamites! If these mother fuckers think that their decisions are set in stone and they better think again!

Anything this dog ah hun Sen agree with any country should be consider void because he was not elected by the people.

He thinks Cambodia is his own personal real estate. That he can sell, give away etc.. at the cost of many lives. The blood on his hand will be judge by Buddha, God, Allah, and the voices of those who sacrafice their lives to stand up against this tryant. When He dies, Cambodian should not cremate his body. They should mummified it so that future generation can see who gave away Cambodia.

Dear fellow,

Have you noticed since last 20th September we haven't got no more news from our natonal newspapers in Cambodia.
Ki-Media has published the news from forein country, precedent news or from Radio free Asia.
And moreover Sam Rainsy's Reply to the National Election Committee on Thursday, September 21, 2006 is sent to The Phnom Penh Post, instead of our nationaol paper.
(Letter published in The Phnom Penh Post - September 22, 2006).

Why suddenly all the dumbness, especially after the death and coup thread, the expulsion of Ranariddh, recently, the nomination of princess Eng Marie as the FUNCIPEC President...

Sometimes, I wonder why so many people love animal HUN SEN so much, even though he did many bad things. What's so special about the Vietnamese invasion? After 1979, I didn't see much improvement in our country.

I don't even talk about improvement after the Vietcong invasion of Cambodia after 1979. I am talking of exploitation, exploitation, and more exploitation of Cambodia. The exploitation still continue to this day and it is so sad! Sometime I wonder do Cambodian people born to this planet Earth just to be exploited by other people?

You don't have to apologize. I have not misunderstood you in anyway and you said it right! You say what you have to say and just speak your mind.

I was told by people who live along the vietnamese and cambodian border that they are encouraging all the vietnamese along the border to learn how to read and write khmer...in order to attend a a university in vietnam they must know how to read, write and speak khmer...I say in 10 years at most many vietnamese will come accross and start to establish their permanent resident in cambodia and their government will pour in money for them to run for public offices in cambodia and soon the entire country will be manage by the vietnamese origin....be afraid...I told my friends to continue to go to school and learn vietnamese and english in order to counter attack their strategy...

I agree with all the nationalist Cambodian people who love very much our Cambodia and really hate the mad dog and the dictator vietnamese brain washed Hun Sen. I wish the world power such as USA could help us by bombing or king him and his entourage(Ahmey Ah thongs) on their heads as soon as possible.

Correction on 11:35 AM

I meant: I wish the world power such as USA could help us by bombing or killing (not king) him and his entourage....
