Cambodia sends congratulations to Japan's new premier Abe

(Kyodo) - Cambodia on Tuesday congratulated Shinzo Abe on being elected Japan's new prime minister.

"Cambodia congratulates Shinzo Abe, who was elected as Japan's new prime minister, and hopes that Japan will continue to be friendly and fully cooperate with Cambodia," said Om Yin Tieng, senior adviser to Prime Minister Hun Sen.

"Cambodia also hopes that Japan will remain the largest donor to Cambodia," he told Kyodo News.

Abe, 52, was elected Japan's youngest postwar prime minister in a parliamentary vote Tuesday, taking over from his mentor Junichiro Koizumi.

Koizumi is stepping down after five and a half years in office.

Om Yin Tieng as an adviser to Hun Sen you should stop asking other countries for donation like Japan.

It may be time to put policies and law in place to build cambodia and introduce a proper taxing system that is fair for all Cambodian.... may be then you and Hun Sen get some respect.

Some CPP members notice the resemblance between Shinzo Abe and Sok An, and speculate it is an omen that Sok An would become Prime Minister if Hun Sen was incapacitated. So, there already are people positioning themselves to be the faithful eyes, ears and pockets of the Prime Minister in-waiting Sok An. Let's see how many useless advisors he will have.
