Singapore- A former Cambodian police chief wanted for two assassinations and three attempted murders was deported from Singapore, a newspaper said on Saturday. Heng Pov was arrested on Friday for overstaying and sent back to Cambodia after he was handed over to immigration officials, The Straits Times reported.
The former "top cop" fled to Singapore in late July. He sought asylum in Australia, but was turned down.
A former Phnom Penh police commissioner, Heng Pov later became an adviser to Prime Minister Hun Sen. He also served as undersecretary of state in the Ministry of the Interior.
He is wanted for allegedly masterminding the April 2003 murder of Phnom Penh Municipal Court judge Sok Setha Mony, who was shot in his car.
He has also been linked to failed assassination attempts against a newspaper publisher, an electricity authority official and the national military police chief, the report said.
Heng Pov faces life imprisonment if convicted in Cambodia.

Damn, he got sent back...
anyone wanna bet he'll get assassinated in a month by one of Hun Sen's men?
Heng Pov is an alleged crimial and he must be tried with Hun Sen ,Hok Lundy and his cronies.
By sending Heng Pov to Hun Sen's mafia government, and after trying him by a Kangaroo Court ,he will be convicted for all high profile crime and later he will be get killed because Hun Sen and Hok Lundy do not want to keep him live because he know too much about their corruptions and their crimes.
Like in the case of Hang Vuthy ,or Yum Mareach ( Death God ), Hok Lundy organised his escape from prison ,but only to kill him after then.To kill him is to eliminate him because too much as Heng Pov did.
Nobody in Phnom Penh care to talk about Hang Vuthy whereabouts anymore because they knew that he was dead by the Hok Lundy Police.
For the sake of the Cambodia who survived from the killing field ,I would like to request to the UNHCR,or any country to provide Heng Pov a safe place to live, and in order for him to tell us and proof to us all what he knew about the Cambodia corrupted regime, then he will be send to an independent court, and Hun Sen and his criminal servants will be also the defendants.
Sending Heng Pov to Hun Sen like returning the khmer escapee to Pol Pot regime.
I bet no. They want to keep Heng Pov in prison and use Heng Pov as a target to blame for crimes in the past. Many people used to suspect that many crimes are committed by pro-Hun Sen group. So, if they have Heng Pov, they can make up stories and blame Heng Pov on those unsolved crime. As the election is coming, to keep Heng Pov alive is more beneficial than to murder him. If Hun Sen regime murders him, the regime must be condemned and criticized by the international and national observers...etc.. Nothing is gained from having Heng Pov get killed.
The Mafia leaders can create 100 cases against HENG Pov. If HENG Pov is sent back to Cambodia means he is sent to the Mafia group. The different ways will be used to kill him.
Heng Pov has never committed any crimes, and certainly not those that the Hun Sen Government has accused him of. The accusations against him are trumped up and politically motivated with the sole aim of securing cooperation from the Singaporean Government and the Interpol to have him arrested. They want him arrested because they are worried that Heng Pov might tell the whole world all the evils that they have done. By the way, Heng Pov never fled to Singapore. He obtained permission from Hun Sen to go there to have his leg treated. Mind you he lost his leg for his country. Heng Pov did not kill the movie star. She was killed by Hok Lundy under the order of Hun Sen's wife. Hun Sen's wife wanted her killed because she found out that the movie star had started an affair with her blood sucking husband Hun Sen. It was Hok Lundy who introduced the movie star to Hun Sen, having used her himself. The Attempt on the life of the Newspaper editor was the job of Hok Lundy. It was his bodyguard who did it and he subsequently told a lot of people about it. In fact, he was seen being treated for the gunshot wound by Hok Lundy's personal doctor shortly after the attempted murder on that day. Why Hok Lundy wanted him killed because the editor had offended him by exposing Hok Lundy's involvement in illegal timber export. As for the judge, god knows who killed him. It could have well been Hun Sen or Hok Lundy's job. But mind you the judge was no saint himself. He made quite a lot of enemies in his life before his death. Heng Pov was certainly not involved in the killing. The accusations about Heng Pov asking the judge to reverse a decision he made one day before the judge was found dead, were nonsensical. It did not make sense why Heng Pov would have wanted to do that. It was Heng Pov who proposed the justice reform to end corruption in the justice system and to bring about transparency in Cambodia.
Hun Sen and Hok Lundy are scared shitless now. As long as Heng Pov lives, they will never be able to rest. Heng Pov knows too much what they have done. Believe me they will do whatever possible to have him killed, if not today, it will be tomorrow. I just pray to God that Heng Pov would not end up back in Cambodia. We should all rally up supporting Heng Pov in his endeavour to seek asylum. We owe this to him at least for what has done in exposing the corrupt government. Heng Pov is not a criminal. What he has done so far has certainly made him a hero. He has put his life on the line for all Cambodians.
Singapore shall feel ashamed for having deported a good man. If Heng Pov was killed, it would be your fault Singapore.
To Anonymous at 6:43pm,
First of all, the claim you made that Heng Pov committed no crimes is beyond to believe. The other you said that Heng Pov 'has put his life on the line for all Cambodians' is even far away to accept.
What I am saying does not mean that I am supportive to Hun Sen and/or Hok Lundy, but it is the infighting between the bad and the urgly, the mafia and the gangster. On the other hand, I do appreciate what Pov has brought up against his ex-boss.
A point I do agree with you is Pov should not be extradited to Cambodia. Of course not because he is innocent, but his revelation would surprise all Khmers who love to see justice in Cambodia.
Would others think Heng Pov will commit suicide before he will be assisinated after a year or two in prison? Or he can be helped to escape by his inner circle and sympathisiers??? Or can we dare to predict that UNHCR would help him like the case of Mr..... (forgot his name - he was from Battambang)ex SRP activisit who was caught enterred Thailand illegally about 5 years ago and eventually Denmark or another country around there took him as a political refugee.
Following his [Heng Pov] apprehension and deportation for his alleged crime (s), there will arguably cataclysmic consequences, and the [Cambodian government] will undoubtedly use Heng Pov's character as a "Scapegoat;" further, everyone can bet that there will be some type of violence ensues.

Dear compatriot,
You have an excellent idea.and
I agree with you to create a webside to support Heng Pov.

Now comments only is not enough .
(Dear My Fellow Cambodian,
we saw in the past about each and every countries in the world help us, mostly it is a part of their interested too, what the the benefit they will receive, if they help Heng Pov? and what is if they help the HUN SEN? for humanitarian and democracy? i'm not so convict on this.
actually, we Cambodian, should do sometime more than the comment on these, how many foreigne country read our comments? i think we should creat the website for supporting Heng Pov case then send to UNHCR, i think Mr. Khim Sokha should creat the plateform to discuss or to collect the letter of support or expression from all cambodian for Heng Pov and present to UN. may be the percentage is not much for whole country, however, we have to think the percentage of Cambodian using web too.

Whether the outside world may or may not care anymore about what's going on in Cambodia is just as good as anybody's guesses. The fate of Heng Pov is now in the hand of Hanoi, not ah Arse Hole Hun Sen's and/or his cronies's. And, one may have guessed it, Hanoi will capitalize on this to the max and to even smooth out its vietnamization of Cambodia a bit more!
So until the final day one can only presume the worst for Heng Pov - HE IS A DEAD MEAT!
