Heng Pov, the former Phnom Peng police chief, still remains in an undefined position regarding his demand to go to a third country. Nevertheless, David Chen, Heng Pov’s lawyer, said that Heng Pov remains at a safe location still.

Singapore authority claimed that Heng Pov was sent out of this country last week and went to Malaysia, however, immediately after the claim that Heng Pov has reached Malaysia, the Malaysian authority reported that they cannot verify that Heng Pov indeed entered Malaysia.

At the same time, the Phnom Penh authority still claims that it has good cooperation with Malaysia.

From Phnom Penh, a government official said on Tuesday that Heng Pov is again seeking help from UN officials in order to obtain asylum in a third country.

The government official did not indicate which country Heng Pov is seeking help from the UN.

From abroad, a source close to the UN which has received the application for asylum, told RFA on Tuesday that Heng Pov has the ability to ask for political asylum only through human right office because his case raise many doubts and is complicated, in particular because of criminal involvements.

David Chen told that he denied all the claims made against Heng Pov.
