Many Cambodian children exposed to pornography, aid group says

2006-09-08

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) - Easy access by Cambodian children to pornography is becoming an alarming phenomenon that needs to be urgently addressed, an aid group said Friday.

A report by the international Christian relief and development organization World Vision said efforts must be made to reduce the impact of pornography on young Cambodians.

"We are talking about extremely hard-core and often extremely violent pornography, depicting every possible permutation of sex act between humans, and between humans and animals, many of which really are beyond the limits of imagination," said Graham Fordham, the report's author.

The findings were based on a survey from March through May of 210 boys and 248 girls, between 12 and 17, in one municipal district and two provincial districts.

The report said nearly half of the youths said they had been exposed to pornography by age 13.

World Vision called for more research and action to curb the problem, and raise awareness among parents in order to minimize children's exposure to pornography.

Distribution of pornographic videos seems widespread in rural villages, where local entrepreneurs rent them out for as little as 500 riel (US$0.12; euro0.09) per night - "cheaper than books," the report said.

How the fuck Cambodian children get their hand on pornography?

Even pornograhic videos rent for 500riel or $0.12 per night! The cost of the VCR is way too high and out of reach for most Cambodian people and the electricity is way too expensive and most Cambodian people can't afford to use! Is this a coincidence with the large influx of tourists from other country? Now I am not saying that tourists are bad people but it is a trend to watch out in sexual exploitation among young Cambodian children!

I want to ask AH HUN SEN, Mr. morality! How can Cambodian people use the recent mistress law to curb pornography in Cambodia to protect Cambodian children? Don't you think it is about time to pass a new pornographic law to protect young innoncence Cambodian children? Don't just sit on your hand and do something for God sake!

Go Hun Sen Go!

HAha..I think the government has taken measure for avoiding children to expose to pornographies. Concret example are the ban of miss contest because they gonna wear the swimming suit and ban of 3G mobile phone. Hahaha...I think that will really help...hell. Children should be protect at any cost...Since they are our only hope to turn thingd to good life..

What is your point? The pornographic materials are available in Video tape!

By definition what is swimsuit? You consider swimsuit as pornography? Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror and telling yourself that you are seeing pornography too? Do you hate your body or human body in general?

My wife is Cambodian. Her ignorant sister and that sister's drunken boyfriend watch pornographic films with the woman's two little children in the room. I doubt this is an uncommon occurence. So that's one way children in Cambodia are able to view pornography.

NO child protection agency in Cambodia? Hey! Mr. Hun Sen or Mr. Morality! Would you be kind enough to create child protection agency or something close to that!

Take away all the children from stupid people! I don't know why stupid people reproduce in the first place!
