The recognition of the village chief election results in which SRP claims it won in four villages in Poipet commune, O-Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, is still in dispute.
Sam Rainsy, the opposition party leader, said that he will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new village chiefs of the commune of Poipet to be held on Monday even though the ministry of Interior is trying to prevent him to participate by claiming that this is not the duty of a political party.
Sam Rainsy said: “I am going as a guest, if the commune council decides something else, I will rethink about it accordingly. But right now, the commune council invited me, as well as lawmakers from all political parties, and the council still maintains the ceremony to be held on Monday 11 September at 8:00 AM. I will go according their invitation.”
Poipet commune where the commune chief belongs to the SRP since 2002, contains 11 villages. An election for new village chiefs was held at the end of June.
SRP claims it won in four villages, but currently, the election results have been under dispute.
On 8 Sept, Orn Som, the Banteay Meanchey province deputy governor, sent a letter claiming that the election in four villages: O Neang, O Russey, Prey Kuh, and Kbal Spean, was wrongly held on 21 June.
The deputy governor demands that the swearing-in ceremony not be held pending a decision from the ministry of Interior.
Sam Rainsy accused the attempt to put all the villages under the leadership of the CPP is a lack of respect in the exercise of democracy.
The opposition leader said: “This problem is not a common problem. Some people are preventing these villages from being led by the three political parties [represented at the National Assembly]. Those who want to put these villages under the leadership of a single party, are not honest, they do not have a spirit of national unity, of equity and democracy at all.”

Bravo! Mr Sam Rainsy, stand your ground!
Dear compatriots,
We all must support Samrainsy for his courage to fight Hun Sen
Two requests to Sam Rainsy,
1- Division in politicla principle but not necessary personal whether SRP or not the elected ones will certainly cherish his presence as the critic or citizen who supports other citizens.Do go but bring Constitution booklet in hands in case of harassement.
2- Sam Rainsy propose a change name from and stop using PoiPet (in Siam Ploy Paet) chrauy lekh 8 to officially Aur Chrao. Stop give in too much to Siam
village chiefs are the assistants of the commune councilors, whoever were elected are none of the business of the provincial governor or ministry of interior. Let them work for the people, not the party, and village development.
H.R. Sam Rainsy is the Khmer hero who defends the Cambodia national interest. Those who criticize him are the traitors and only care about his or her will and title. He is Cambodian Gandi or Martin L. King who fights for the democracy and the poors. One day you will see the Cambodia up side down again. No one strong tiger in Cambodia last very long. That tiger will be down. When it downs, that animal will end up in the cage lock out for a long time. Remember Marcos, Noriega, Serb leaders, Talebans, Sadam Hun Sen of Iraq, etc... are the strongest men in the world and untouchable. But, now some are going to hell and some are in the bird cage. Cambodian tiger will be the same. Therefore, all of his followers are better watch out. History repeats itself and these guys never learn any lesson.
Hope to see all of you in the bird cage one day.
I feel a dream and that dream will come true one day my countrymen and women.
Buddha bless our poor Cambodian and take away all of the bad soul in our motherland in one lightning strike.
May I suggest to this prior anonymous who addressed H.R.Sam Rainsy and honored him as Khmer Hero. Please slow down now, remember your H.R Sam Rainsy new culture had embarrassed so many members in abroad. Correction Mohandas gandhi was who he was to himself and India plus Pakistan. Also Martin Luther King was himself and himself.Howver each has own respectable character and morality. For Sam Rainsy is neither Gandhi or King. Put your glasses on so you can see clearer, Rainsy was ungrateful child to his hank panky father who worked for but later killed by Dictator Sihanouk. Now Sam Rainsy pledges all his life is to serve Sihanouk until last breath. That says much already there, not much heroic but a duckling walker. But wait, let's look at his wife side, her father was also Sihanouk right hand detractor to the democratic leadders then. Her family much involved in dictatorial plot to ruin Cambodia too.
I give him much as profiteering politician but no Gandhi or King.
Criticize the opposition is the better way to strenghen HUN SEN and yuon.
Samrainsy is the only one who dare stand against Hun Sen, then Ranariddh since the election 1993.
Tell us who is better than him until now.
And you, what are you doing for our country.
divided we fall
