Hoping to promote itself on the regional tourism trail, Sihanoukville is working to making itself the official "sister city" to the Indonesian resort island of Bali, Municipal Governor Say Hak said Thursday. Say Hak said that he has met with Indonesian Embassy officials in recent days to discuss his idea of linking his municipality with Bali. "We have many islands as beautiful as Bali," Say Hak said. "Foreign tourists like to visit Bali, so they will also like to visit Sihanoukville," he said. Say Hak said he had also made a request that the Indonesian Embassy post at least one representative in Sihanoukville. Kousoum Saroeuth, director-general of the Ministry of Tourism, said that plans are in the works to link Phnom Penh to other regional cities in a similar "sister" fashion. Indonesian Embassy officials could not be reached for comment.
